Should the U.S. government give American born poverty stricken citizens a loan and 7 years tax free status?

Why the haters?
Don't you know that the "forefathers" of this "great nation" came over as immigrants themselves, and stole the land away from use by my ancestors, the American Indians?
I don't receive welfare, but I do get other forms of governmental assistance. I use the system to my benefit, yes, but I'm not a lazy uneducated slob, either. I've got a college degree and a full-time job...but I'm making less than minimum wage, which qualifies me for programs such as Title XX (child care subsidy), Food stamps, Section 8 Housing voucher, and Medicaid. It's a blessing, truly it is...and it won't be this way forever.

That is the absolute last thing we should do! Where is the incentive for them to change their lives? Anyone has the ability to be as successful as the next person; some people just want it more than others. This is not a country of free-rides. Believe it or not, you have to work for the American dream. Despite popular belief, the government will not and should not give you everything you want or think you deserve. Jeez....that type of mentality is going to ruin our country.

What do you mean "SHOULD"?... The U.S. Government ALREADY gives that trash everything... a free place to live... free higher education... free medical care... free food...

The people the U.S. Govenment should help are the middle class that is being bled dry to PAY for all of the Government programs for those poor "poverty stricken" take all and give nothing in return types.

Affirmative action is usually state-based or private, but it generally applies only to non-whites. The idea is that because of past racial discrimination against certain races, it is acceptable to have present racial discrimination favoring certain races, as a balance. That's the idea, don't get me started.

As for the program you propose -- I think it's a good idea. But like all good ideas, it costs money. And that money has to come from other taxpayers. So, it becomes a question of how often the government can take from the rich to help the poor.

U.S. lawmakers will by no skill have the balls to handle religions through fact the companies they're. that's a real shame, provided that nowhere in the form does separation of church and state mean tax-exempt status. Hell, i'm break away the state and that i pay taxes.

I agree that our welfare system is messed up, but always remember that there really are some that need it.

America no-longer instatutionalizes those who have mentall illnesses that make them unable to work. Therefore, many of these people, unless they have family members to take care of them, end up on the streets. (There is a reason that homeless guys are often portrayed as crazy.)
Those folks need to be taken care of, as do those who have been injured and can't work, or who do work and still can't afford their basic needs.
Those that don't work simply because it is easier to live on handouts, though, need to get cut off.
