Why won't WMP play videos when I click on the link?
New computer. I have WMP 11 and Windows Vista.

I can "copy shortcut" on the web page and then "file/open url" and copy the shortcut to the WMP and the video plays just fine. However, when I try clicking the link a new tab opens saying "Internet Explorer cannot display web page".

I've researched the WMP and Windows help page and forums without any luck. I've downloaded a variety of codexes with no luck.

The files I'm trying to view are mainly wmv files so it makes no sense.

I can't figure out if this is a WMP problem or if there is some security setting I'm not aware of that is preventing me from being able to do this.

Can anybody offer me any possible solutions please?

You should be able to go into WMP and set the file types for which you want WMP to be the default player. As a second option, try going to Windows Explorer and associate the file type (e.g., MP3, AVI, etc.) with WMP.

no! this suggests somebody replaced into finding at someone internet site that makes use of abode windows to play its movies. it purely comes back up if no person does the rest. like in case you look on the action picture, play a music, then the action picture is long gone, or look at yet another action picture. so its no longer a pop up. those are cyber web based.
