Some of these kids today are going way too far. They'll regret mistakes in the future. Talk to your brother about it, but if he doesn't want to listen to you, that's his problem. And yes, you're right about the Disney Channel. I miss the days when Disney did not cater to pre-teens and teen nick didn't exist. Now my cousins are trying to be like Raven Simone who is older than me and they're 9.

Well if you haven't figured it out already kids are growing up much faster than past generations did. I mean I'm 19 and we started at like 5th 6th grade nowadays, kids got the tv, school, internet most kids talk about sex, girls, boys, kissing, sucking all that don't let them fool you remember when you were younger didn't you and your friends have questions about stuff and y'all would ask eachother and remember all that cussing you did when your parents wasn't there they don't really have to ask no one now because they'll either see it on tv or they can go on the internet and type any question and believe me they will get plenty of answers without even asking the important thing is that y'all need to talk to these younger kids you can't tell what to do it's not like their going to listen but sit down and talk about sex and condoms tell them only fools stand in the rain without an umbrella so just wrap it up!!!! good luck

I totally agree with you 110% and it's all because of these TV shows. Not only is it the Disney Channel, but parents today don't control what kids watch so when their 10 or 11 year old who's going through puberty and is already feeling all kinds of hormones coming on flips the channel to MTV and sees high school kids on Laguna Beach wearing designer clothes and "hooking up" left and right, what are they supposed to do? They think "hey, these are the popular kids. If I'm going to be popular, I'm going to have to be just like them!". And do the parents say "no" to their kids when they ask for the $80 pair of jeans at Abercrombie? Of course not! That could damage their fragile little minds! It could make them think mommy and daddy don't love them any more! God forbid!
Kids today are growing up way to fast and it's mostly the parents' fault.

I agree with you. It really is ridiculous. Its like every generation starts dating earlier and earlier than the one before. It really is getting out of control. A 5th grader should be talking about video games and boy toys not sex. The parents of today really need to do something about this because this is the reason why we have pregnant 12 year olds and boys having to take on the responsibility of being a father at such a young age. Thats why there are so many children that dont have fathers because of the simple fact that they had sex when they were so young and couldnt take on being a father.

In my opinion, I think it is natural for children to explore their sexuality with other kids. Prior to the 1800's through the very early 1900's kids were often married and starting families of their own usually between the ages of 13-16, sometimes earlier. Its just the nature of the beast versus the values and morals of modern times have changed what is acceptable behavior.

AIM sex? I'm not even going to ask.
I don't think 5th grade is too young to have a girl friend that's when I had my first one. But I was pretty much clueless to making out and sex and stuff like that.
Maybe things should slow down a little bit before we end up with preteen mothers. = I

I had my first boyfriend in kindergarten. Me and my best friend shared him.
Then had my next boyfriend in the 4th grade, then 1 in 5th then didn't have another til 8th and that was the one that I went all the way with.
And trust me...I was one of the last in my circle of friends. So what is early anymore. Maybe more sophisticated or knowledgeable now. Or am I just dreaming that they'd be more educated than we were.

Shouldn't his parents be asking this question?
I'm assuming that you're female and are upset that your little brother is getting treated differently than you were. This looks to be the case. What you should realize is that most parents have a double-standard when it comes to their sons vs. daughters.
Girls, by and large, are not permitted to date and express romantic interest in anyone until they are much older. Boys are encouraged to "do it" from the time they are old enough to understand what that even means. And oh yeah...
Boys can't get pregnant, so theres nothing to really worry about.
Are you a parent, or just an angry older sister who feels that life isn't treating you fairly? It's hard to tell from your question.
This was your best answer.

You are never too young to fall in love.
The problem is that too many kids want to date for the sake of fitting in to the modern culture, and not actually for the sake of getting to know each other better.

Yeah, I kinda think that's a little young, especially for a sexual relationship.... I think kids should date 13+. But even THAT isn't a good idea nowadays >.>.
