I understand the social climate in the middle east is a bit different than North America and Europe but why is the idea of polygamy considered such a bad thing? If 3, 4, 5 or 200 consenting adults decide they want to be married, who is to tell them they can't? I never really understood why people are so quick to intrude into the private lives of others. If you're not hurting anyone then do whatever you want. The world would be a much better place if people adhered to that.

Polygamy is much different than chinas birth control laws. Much different. The two cannot be compared. Maybe you might have to be a Chinese woman who is being pressured to abort her 2nd child or female fetus in order to truly understand.
Oh, and by the way, I have heard much ranting over polygamy in the middle east, so Im not sure how you can say that it has drawn no fire.

Also, nobody is condemning polygamy in some states in America where fundamentalist Mormons practice polygamy. It`s really a political thing, after all, the middle East has Oil which America needs but what has China got ?.

Polygamy is a religious issue primarily. And the Middle East gets slammed pretty hard for religious issues already -- that one is just less of an issue than many of the more blatant problems.

China has lifted the ban on multiple births.
Polygamy is rare in Mid-East countries, it is not the norm.

your going to hate on people for banging more then one wife, and compare that to being justified because china forces people to procreate as they see fit?
uhm one is a personal choice and the other is FORCED on people. your complaint means **** all except to CHRISTIANS that define one wife is the rule.
GET SOME PERSPECTIVE.
