Ok, I'm almost a teenager, and my mom is JUST having her 2nd child. I have the much appreciated task of selecting a name for my new sibling. There's just one problem. I'm freaking!
I need help in getting a cute, nice, but not babyish name. Theres some specifics, though: It must start with either N or M. We tend to favor N, because both my mom and I have names that start with M, and my dad's name starts with N so we want to balance it out. We do not know if it's a boy or girl, the can't tell by the ultra-sound yet. We'd like a name of Indian origin, cause my family is half-indian, but it doesn't HAVE to be. Please help me. Take your time to think about it, I have until the 15th of August to submit my name to mom and dad. So far we've come up with Nirvan for a boy and Nirvana for a girl. If possible, but you don't have to, include meanings and origins. Thanks in advance!

Congratulations are in order - maybe not so much on the pregnancy (you didn't have a lot to do with that), but on being the kind of person your parents would trust with such an important task. I understand your anxiety. This is a big decision. Your written message shows you to be well educated. I'm sure you'll do fine. I'm not certain why you chose Nirvan and Nirvana as possibles and don't know enough about your neighborhood/friends/culture to know if that would be a good choice or not. I can do the next best thing though -

I like Nirvan a lot, but I think a little girl named Nirvana...would be annoyed by all the jokes about paradise and Nirvana...like the band....please save her from this.

They are all Sanskrit:

Boys
Naveen - Indian - means new; youthful
Navin - Indian - means new; youthful
Nirav - Indian - quiet; calm

Girl
Nisha - Indian - night
Neela - Indian - dark blue
Naari - woman
Nalini - like the lotus; gentle one

One person gave you all the names that you had to choose from that was Indian, so from that list I suggest:

Nayana Marie__________ (very beautiful)
Nilaya Michelle__________
Niyati Mala____________

Maya Nalini___________
Marisa Nicole__________

I really like the idea of tying your heritage in with your sister/brother's name.

Possible Brother Name:

Congrats on the new addition to the family! Good luck with choosing the perfect name for your new sibling!

Nicole for a girl and Nathan for a boy. But why limit to just one letter, there are some beautiful names you could choose for your new brother or sister. How about Hope, Grace, or Faith for a little girl. And for a boy how about Beau, Shawn, or Alexander.
