I would say that Nelson Mandela has gotten lots of acclaim and importance in the world. He won the Nobel Peace Prize, after all. He is widely respected around the world as someone who works for peace and harmony.

Yeah, he was a terrorist. But it appears that he mended his ways. He doesn't go around blowing things up, which is what sent him to prison in the first place.

Just my $0.02

Cheers!!

Whether you like it or not, Mandela is a terrorist. We dont give Abu Hamza national acclaim, so we neither give Mandela it. Many other black leaders managed to PEACEFULLY resolve apartheid, but Mandela didn't, so international acclaim is not suitable for him.

Because he was a marxist terrorist who kept himself in jail for twenty years becasue he would not renounce the use of terrorism. He was offered the opportunity to go free many times if he would renounce violence and terror tactics.

He is loathsome.
