Lightspeed, the speed of light in vacuum, is exactly (defined) 299,792,458 m/sec.

The speed of sound depends upon the medium conducting it, the temperature, and whether it is a longitudinal or transverse (solids only) excitation.

12,000 m/sec in diamond, ~150 m/sec in SF6 gas.

The speed of sound that is being quoted earlier is the speed at sea level. Sound travels quicker through dense material.
Therefore, the higher you go, the slower sound travels.
Until you get to a vacuum, and there is nothing there to convey sound waves.

The speed of light has actually changed over time and is been studied by David Van Koevering. You can access him at, www.elsewhen.com

In metric units, c is exactly 299,792,458 metres per second (1,079,252,848.8 km/h) but 3×108 m/s is commonly used in rough estimates. , c= speed of sound

under normal atmospheric conditions, the speed of sound is 344 m/s (1238 km/h, or 769 mph, or 1128 ft/s or 661.5 kt).

Depending on the temperature of the air, the speed of sound through air is about 761 miles per hour. Sound moves faster through water, and faster still through metal.

The speed of light is 186000 miles per second, always.

The speed of light is:
299,792,458 meters / second

Sound waves travel at:
331 meters / second in air.

Sound travels at different speeds when it travels through different substances.
