I'm only 20 years old, and just recentley (passed couple years) taken interest in our country. I can honestly say being ignorant was a lot more enjoyable. I fear for the state of our country in the future. Things are bad enough as is, if we continue on this course I can't imagine what things will be like when I finaly have kids.

Illegal Immigration is only part of the problem, one valid question proposed is who will do the "labor" jobs if we didn't have illegal immigrants. I definately don't know many aspiring janitors, dishwashers, etc. etc.

However the cost of them staying in the country and recieving benefits like they are is taking it's toll on lower and middle class.

We're also outsourcing a ridiculous amount of jobs, even with a college education underway I'm already seeing the industry I'm going into start sending jobs overseas.

All of this is just the tip of the iceberg though. One can't even begin to describe the disaster that Iraq and the middle east is. The sheer amount of lies we've been told, leads me to believe that the war was for personal gains only. I don't think any half-witted American can honestly believe that our Government is among the most corrupt in the world. There are VERY, VERY few honest men and women working for us. Most will gladly take bribes from companies making it so the corporations lead America. The honest ones are ostracized and considered washington outsiders, and thus are never truley able to make a difference.

There is a plethora of other issues that need to be taken care of. We should be focusing on our Country not other ones.

As for the upcomming election, so far the person I'm watching is Ron Paul. Although running as a Republican many can see he doesn't fit that description. He is going back to the roots and true conservatism not any of this neo-con crap that's been going on for the passed couple decades.

God help us if some of these other people get elected (though there is a strong possiblity they will due to the media and money).

You look good for 64. I am 60 and have decided nothing will get better in our country until we the people toss the Democrats and Republicans out of office. We need to refuse to vote for Bush/Kerry ect as though that is a choice. We need to demand that "none of the above" be an entry on every ballot. We laugh when the Cubans vote and only Castro is on the ballot. But how is that worse than us having 2 dummies to pick from? Or when our Senators and Congressmen run with only token opposition and have gerrymandered the districts to secure their seat? We are in a pickle and our party system is the problem. I remember when our country was free and proud.

In my opinion, we need to take our country back from the current government leaders that commit crimes in front of us and spit on the constitution. They're a lot more dangerous threat than immigrants.
I bet the Native Americans thought the exact same thing about immigrants when Europeans killed them off and stuck the survivors on land that no one really wants. Fact is, they allowed us and were happy to have Europeans move in with them, it was just when we started killing them by the millions that they retaliated. Talk about foreigners taking over a country! Luckily, the United States has a military, so we could fight and win if any serious problems occurred with immigrants. No, we need to be hospitable and accept people who come here looking for a better life with open arms.

....surely you must be Native American. I can't think of anybody else who has the right to claim the United States as "our country". Globalization is the main reason America is still thriving and not being swallowed whole by the European Union and/or China. Try being self sufficient (growing your own damn food and not using ANYTHING imported from outside the United States and see how far you can get). Do you really think you can live the life you live now without the help of these so called "foreigners" who do the jobs you turn your nose on? God forbid you are unable to find someone to cook your dinner when you're hungry, or walk into your cubicle at work and find that the mess you made last night with all the extra photocopies still remains there because there is no janitor to pick up after you like the supreme being you obviously believe that you are. The sooner you start acknowledging the contributions "foreigners" give to this country that you are so proud of, the sooner you can eject yourself from your close minded shell and learn to thrive in a multicultural environment. Welcome to America - salad bowl of the world. If you don't like it, go back to your own country.

Hey, not all older Americans think like you do. My theory is that if you are dumb, bigotted and undereducated at 20, things don't change when you hit 64.

I'm pushing 70 and know that this is a nation built by immigrants. I am mature enough to know that living in fear is nonproductive and makes your life small. I don't fear immigration, legal or otherwise, nor do I fear "copy cats placing suitcases" everywhere.

While it's true that our country is in big trouble, it is not because of illegal immigration. It is the policies and corruption of the current administration. It is that bunch of criminals who bring the threats to our country, who have destroyed our relationship with past allies, who has killed more people than any terrorist has and who snubs the will of the people.

If you want to get angry and take action, get off your 64 year old butt and join and anti-war organization, become involved in politics, email your legislators to impeach that moron in the White House, insist that our young soldiers be removed from Iraq.

There are many threats to our way of life but immigration isn't one of them.

I feel sorry that your life is so meaningless and small........and that you are so fearful.

I am glad you got your wake up call! Now you need to find out what is really going on and who is really in control. After that you need to start waking up those around you.
The problems started back in 1913 when some totally corrupt international bankers got the federal reserve system into place along with the IRS to collect interest. They have been bleeding this country dry ever since. Their council on foreign relations runs the whole show here. All the top government and corporate people are members. This is fascism of the worst kind with total control of the whole world as their main goal.
To fight this corruption and globalization we need people in office that enforce the constitution. Dr. Ron Paul would be a very large force for turning this around!
Dr. Ron Paul for president 2008!

I don't think that the problem is other nationalities. I think the problem is what we allow our Government ( thru the politicians we elect ) to do in and to other countries. Yes, we should help others, but only after we have taken care of our own, and if we give help, it should not have strings attached. The Government for the last 50-60 years seems to have been intentionally bent on alienating other nations. You are right, we need to take back control of our country, but we need to take it back from the status quo elected government. We need to elect people who will represent we the people.

Yes I am also aware of what is going on. I am 63, and a proud American. We have to keep calling, writing and emailing Congress, the President, and Homeland Security.
Stop buying foreign products and deportation of illegal aliens no matter where they come from.

It's interesting that you don't name what country you are from -- and that many different people from many different countries would likely agree with you.

You mention "foreigners". So, anyone not born in your country doesn't have the same opportunities? Or do you only object when they try to keep their own home customs and clothing and religion, rather than adopting yours?
