I bought a new car from a local renault dealer and it is up for servicing soon, i was wondering do i have to bring it back to the dealer to get it serviced or can i go to a different dealer which may be cheaper. I am worried if the warranty may be affected. Also what does the dealer warranty cover anyway?

Thanks

Just stay away from all the "Jiffy Lube" and "Quick lube" type of rip-off shops!

As long as the service was performed at an authorized dealer it is no problem. The problem only arises when you do the work yourself. Then you will have to produce receipts showing that you actually bought the parts needed to do the service. Like the oil and filter, for example. The warranty should cover almost everything for 3 years and 36K miles, whichever comes first. The exception will be parts that are considered maintenance items, like oil, filters, brake pad replacements, etc. You can check with the dealer to find out the exact warranty you got when you bought the car, but 3/36 is about the standard.

Ask the dealer what the dealer warranty covers, and then find out whether or not taking it to a different dealer would have any affect on your warranty.

As long as it is an authorized Renault shop - then your warranty from them is safe.
