Any HMO ... run far, run fast. Your wellbeing is their LAST priority. If you're well and only need checkups, they're fine, but as soon as you develop a problem that costs money to fix, suddenly there's red tape and excuses.

I had Kaiser Permanente when I was pregnant - I liked the doctor and the staff was pleasant, but my employer dropped them effective 12/31 ... and the baby wasn't due until 1/2. She came on 1/9 and I had to threaten to sue KP to get them to take responsibility for delivery of the baby. I developed an infection as a direct result of the delivery, and they wouldn't even talk to me about treatment. No other doctor would see me because they had nothing to do with my infection, and I was up the creek without a doctor despite paying all those premiums.

Can you get into a PPO? At least that way if you lose one insurance, there's a chance that your doctor will also be a participating physician in your new plan.
