My Dad wasn't mean. Firm yes. He was also a Democrat BEFORE liberals hijacked the party.
But you really should word your question differently. After all I cannot speak for ALL Conservative Republicans, only myself. Heck my brother and sister might not even agree with me.

It wouldnt be right to make sweeping generalizations about how old school repubs parent, but I think there is a tendency among them to be mean S.O.B's. I mean, c'mon, just look at how casually so many of them have sent others kids off to fight and die. That being said, I am so happy and thrilled to know that more and more repubs are seeing the light each day, and breaking off from the current admin.

My stepfather raised me since I was 5 and he's a good man...he is also a Conservative Independent. He feels both parties suck.

My dad was a working class republican and I 'm a liberal Dem. We could agree to disagree, in short he was a loving caring father, the problem today is Bush and his supporters HIJACKED the republican party...I can assure you there are many republicans who is as much disillusion with BUSH Policy as liberals !

If you mean "strict", I'd understand better. But there can be strict dads in either conservative, or more liberal families.

my dad was a bed wetting liberal politically. But he would pound you into the ground like a nail if you crossed him. I kept my conservative views to myself around him.
