Sammy Hagar-definately. Saw them live and he was awesome, great voice, great showman.

David Lee Roth! Van Halen was a totally different band after he left. When Sammy Hagar joined the band, they had a few good songs, but they basically became a Top 40 pop band. When Diamond Dave was with the band, they were rock pioneers.
Van Halen's defining moment still remains Hot For Teacher (song and video).

David Lee Roth all the way, i like Sammy, but when he was with the band it just seemed like Sammy Hagar with an overpriced back up band.

Currently, The Van Halens want to get back with Dave.
But I preferred Sammy Hagar because they released some good albums wtih him.
