I agree with all of you assertions.
Here is the guy that I would pick from those that are running. I doubt he will make it into the top tier of candidates but I think he should be the Democratic nominee.
He has a long history of public service so you wont have any trouble researching things he has done (that's done, not said).

At this point in the 2008 presidential election, you can say this much:
The democrat candidates are predominantly socialists who understand the feelings of the lesser individuals called US citizens;
The republican candidate who are in the race at this point are attempting to be conservative; however, they are all missing the mark just a bit. Few of them have demonstrated true conservative values;
The independents are basically people who have enough money to try and make a difference in the outcome of the race.
To sum it all up, there really isn't anyone in the race who the American people can fully trust. Wait till after Labor Day. I think then there will be some new candidate that may make a difference for the American public.

Vote Mike Gravel in 2008!
He wants to withdrawal our troops from Iraq! Empower Americans by giving us the opportunity to vote on issues which affect our daily lives! He wants to eliminate the income tax and replace it with a progressive national sales tax. He wants to set up a Universal Health Care voucher system. He wants to put real money away in the Social Security trust fund instead of borrowed money! Oh and best of all he wants to legalize Marijuana! check out his site at: www.gravel2008.us
Make sure you sign up so he can be on the ballots in your state!

I don't know, but I was reading about Fred Thompson, when he was young he was a senator, he was involved with the Richard Nixon staff, they considered Thompson to be a dummy.
