High waist, at the knee, straight across on top, like a thick strap across the bust area, kind of snug, but then flows out from right below the bust. So it is like two separate pieces of fabric, joined just below the bust. What do you call this style? Maybe with thin straps, or thick straps. Can anyone find a picture that looks like this? I thought it was a babydoll style, but the babydoll styles I saw look different on top... they have scoop or v neck, I want one that is just straight.

This is called 'empire' style. It is quite regal, and dates back to ancient Greece.

well it might b a babydoll emipre waste dress and th@ doesnt matter with the straps or the bust area or even the different necklines but im srry but im really bad @ linking things so i cant get u a pic. good luck
