if so why are they so thinned skinned and hypersensitive.

you don't need to be thinned skinned and hypersensitive to have your feelings hurt....
I'd posted a poem and got killed over it.... and I'd been working on that one for quite some time... so, equal to the amount of effort I had put into that, the murdering response got to me.... but, when you're on answers... you indeed get stronger and tougher. so, right now they may say what they want and they won't get me under no more! ;-)))

Sometimes. And sometimes it is not even being thin-skinned. If a user I had added to my contacts, and whom I considered to be a friend and decent fellow, were to say something really tacky in an answer, I would be hurt and offended. I would probably also delete him from my contacts list.
But it is clearly true that it does not pay to be too sensitive here, and especially not in certain categories that tend to draw trolls like flies. Religion & Spirituality gets more than its share, as does LGBT. I'm sure there are others that I seldom see.

Yes, I know many who have told me about having their feelings hurt by rude answers. I almost cried when I got 9 Thumbs Down once when I was a Newbie.

I get hurt, not because I'm thin skinned, but because I wonder about their mental state and worry for them, if they need to prowl around on Yahoo looking for annonomous users to be rude to, they must be VERY SAD people.

I live in downtown Columbus.
This is time-kill for me.
I'm more worried about slobs and cops.
I could care less about some half-assed attempt at an insult.
Words don't hurt me, lead does though.

not by answers to my few questions because I know I cannot word a question correctly.
when people make mean comments that I feel are directed to me (or friends maybe) I will mention it to them. But I do not get hurt about it

It is alot them gets hurt by the answers we give out...And most of them young kids,,that ask a stupid question and gets a answer back,they think it is a wrong answer and they get all beat out of shape,,B/C they think they know everything....If you know everything,,Why do you ask for...

yah. If someone says something mean or insensitive then it could hurt someones feelings. it also means they might report the person that said the answer.

Sometimes if it is an insensitive person, and when you are VERY VERY VERY upset, they say something VERY rude, the person can get their feelings hurt!

i personally dont but i ddnt ask any stupid questions yet..also when ppl r really asking 4 help its rude 2 joke whether they get hurt or not...
when u really need help then u obvi get hypersensitve.
