First, you "confess". You can do this to yourself, your pastor, or in prayer. The purpose of this is to acknowledge in a clear way, at least to yourself, that what you did was wrong. The second step is to make a commitment to not do it again... easy to make, hard to keep, and the third is to forgive yourself. This step is the most important. Mea Culpa.

Take that anger or sadness inside that's causing you guilt and write it down. The best thoughts are on paper rather in your head. Yea you should apologize but some times its too late and you need the guilt to leave. Writting music and poems always help my pain to go away...maybe you should try the same. You never know.

Well you need to decide if the guilt is because you did something, or you didn't do anything to cause the situation. If you really had nothing to do with it, but something bad happened, you can't blame yourself. If it is because of you, you should go to the respective parties that you hurt and talk to them. You'll feel better if you do.

depends on what is making you feel guilty. usually 9 out of 10 times, doing the right thing will help diminish guilt, until you do that then you have to live with the guilt of what ever you did. exmp. if you cheated you have to live with that and thats why they say when you cheat, you also cheat yourself. if thats what you did then you made the decision, it is selfish to not be honest out of being afraid of loosing who you cheated on. You made that decision when you cheated to risk that, so be honest, its always the best and it is the fair and respectful thing to do.

Forgive yourself. You must have made a mistake that is bothering you. Let go, tell yourself everyday you are human. We all make mistakes and have things we would change. You can let go and forgive yourself or you can continue to pull yourself through hot sand. You will not accomplish a thing but miss a beautiful new day and all it offers. Good luck and I'm sure you are an awesome person or you wouldn't care.

If you can change it...try
If you can't then all you can do is repent and confess. Understand what you did was wrong. Apologize to ANYONE who might have been hurt in what you did.
After you did that then don't feel bad. You have moved on. Hope I helped. Don't be TOO hard on urself. Here's a star to make u feel better.

Forgive others that Christ forgave you.
Repent of what you did wrong, and do not do it again, so you do not have to deal with such guilt and shame.
Let it go.

Talk it over with somebody you know to be discrete. Dont try to deal with it by your self. You need a helping hand or I dont think you would ask such a question in such an open forum

I guess it depends on the action you are guilty of.
If it something you did, most times telling the truth to someone else or a therapist will help.
If you did something illegal, the cops are going to find out and God already knows about it.
