One of my answer was should we let a lying stealing cheating person in the hall of fame. We let Babe Ruth in, and no one was a bigger liar, cheater than Ruth was. He bought his bookie a box seat next to his dugout so he could bet while the game was going on. Should Ruth be voted out of the Hall of Fame?

Pete Rose is a legend. I think that it is so stupid on how they are treating this guy. This guy came out 110% everyday on the field. Every time Pete Rose comes up the first thing you think about is "hustle". No player in baseball today can give the fans what he gave people 25-30 years ago. With all the roids and over inflated salaries and pre Madonna attitudes in baseball right now. You look at a guy like Pete Rose and realize that he played for the love of the game. These guys today play for money and not Americas pastime. Yeah Pete Rose did well financially, but nothing like these guys today even with inflation from 25-30 years ago. Look at his statistics as well. This guy was an amazing athlete.

Hell no! The man as a baseball player is amazing and his skills would have easily gotten him in there. However, Pete Rose is a complete scumbag as a person. He bet on baseball while being employed by the MLB which is AGAINST THE RULES and to this day hangs out with convicted felons such as cocaine dealers. Just because you act sorry doesn't mean that you are. Sometimes you don't get a second chance in life and you are forced to learn from your mistakes. He made a huge mistake which jeopardizes the integrity of a classic game. This isn't the NFL or NBA... sorry! I feel sorry for any of you suckers that actually think he deserves this. You people are SOFT! If truth causes all these dumbasses to give me the thumbs down then so be it! He does NOT deserve it. You CANNOT justify what he did. It was clearly one of the golden rules of baseball. EDIT: Fozzy said it best. I agree with him 100%.

First of all Babe Ruth is in the hall of fame and is not the issue here.

Secondly Babe Ruth did not "swear "and "sign" under oath that we would not bet on baseball unlike Pete Rose.

You people care about/bring up his stats all the time when obviously they didn't mean a damn thing to him if he was stupid enough to bet them away for a few dollars. He had to know if he got caught MLB would ban him.

With that being said I don't feel sorry for Pete Rose nor will I ever. He's never getting into the hall and I'm good with that.

The answer to your question is NO!. Even if you pick a best answer here that agrees with you it won't change a thing.

Pete Rose will never see the light of day in the hall of fame ever be it dead or alive.

Does Pete deserve to be in the Hall of Fame? Of course he does. *WILL* Pete be in the Hall of Fame? Not likely.

The simple answer to this question is yes! He deserves to be in Cooperstown! To ban any player with the kind of playing career that he had is completely insane and is an insult to all baseball players and fans. How many people out there can say that they have never made a mistake in their lives? None! Pete Rose made a mistake and has more than paid for it! His name has, not only been dragged through the mud, but been buried in it and trampled on! For what? Because he placed a few bets on the game of baseball? I have placed bets on baseball! Am I a bad person? Yes, Rose made the error of betting on the game while he was still an active manager! Oops...a judgement error! So what!? He's human! You cannot take away the fact that he was one of the greatest PLAYERS that ever played the game! If Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson were to have gambled on basketball, would you keep them out of the NBA HOF? No! Because they performed on the court the same way Pete Rose performed on the baseball field.
Rose gave 150% on every pitch of every game he played! He would still be playing today if it were remotely possible. He loved to play the game!
As far as all of you comparing Ruth and Rose and Joe Jackson......STOP!
It was a different era! Babe Ruth was an alcoholic that cared more about himself than anything or anybody else. "Shoeless" was a cheater! And Pete Rose gambled his HOF chances away unknowingly. Should he have know? Probably! But how many times have you done something that you knew for a fact was the wrong thing to do? I have! I can't count how many times!! It is not fair to punish someone forever for something they did and have already been punished for. Let Pete Rose into the Hall of Fame! His playing career warrants it and we as fans deserve to see him their!!!

Not this question, again...
OK, for the record...

PETE ROSE SHOULD NOT EVER BE ALLOWED IN THE HALL OF FAME!

NOT EVEN AS A PAYING CUSTOMER

AND CERTAINLY NOT AFTER HE'S BEEN DEAD FOR 100 YEARS.

AND ANY "REAL" BASEBALL FAN WOULD KNOW THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course he should get in! they even tried to ban Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays for being celebrity hosts/handshakers at a casino! Those guys didn't make the millions that they make today, and the last time I checked, gambling was legal. Does ANYONE actually think that Rose would bet against his team and take steps to get them to lose? NO way! Just look at how he played for 20 years! Michael Jordan bet on sports - where is his ban? I think all living members of the Hall should stand up and say to take them out if Rose isn't let in.

Statistically speaking yes he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. As for Pete Rose the person no he doesn't deserve to be in the Hall. Don't pick on Babe Ruth, he might not have been perfect but he was a damn good human being who cared about other people, he wasn't preoccupied with himself. I saw someone mention Shoeless Joe Jackson, I agree with them he should be in the Hall.

To call Ruth a bigger cheater and liar than Rose is false. Rose managed teams that he may or may not have bet on. Since no one can control a game as effectively as a manager, there's no comparison. That being said, I think Rose has suffered long enough and should be let in, and, believe me, I hated Rose during his whole career. Freakin' rah-rah show off. But I think Joe Jackson deserves to be in there just as well, so if you let in one, then let in the other. Peace.
