1. If you both are connected to the wireless router and are able to access the network then just open the My Network Places (assuming you have Win XP) and locate the workgroup that you are in and the one in which your brothers computer is.

2. On the network tasks on the left panel ...click View Workgroup computers and then see if his computer shows on your PC ... if not then he might be on another workgroup.

3. Then click on Microsoft Windows Network and choose his workgroup and open the folder you want. Make sure the folder is shared on your brothers computer. If not then right click on the folder on your bro's computer and share it.

If you are newbie user, you can use a device called a External USB portable disc. Connect the disc to one computer, transfer the file to it, unplug the drive, connect it to the other computer and transfer the file.

Alternately, get a crossover cable. Connect the cross over cable to the network point on either of these computers. Then enable File sharing on both the computer. Ensure that both the computer are in the same IP range.
Once done, you can click on Start > Run. In the dialog box that appears, of one computer, type the name of the other computer. And thus you will be able to share files without much pains.

If you both have internet and the file isnt that big just Zip is and email it over. If you want to network the 2 PCs and transfer it that way you need a network switch or router and configure the PCs to talk to each other and allow you to transfer files.

email is easiest.

thumb drive would be 2nd if you both have Win XP or other o/s that recognizes the drive automatically.

setting up a network takes too long for only one file unless the file is huge (over the capacity of your thumb drive).

You can use the Windows File and Transfer Wizard.
