It makes no more sense to blame Gore for his son's troubled than it would to blame Bush for his daughter's.

Al Gore's son was in trouble with the law before he became an adult. This isn't his first trip around the block. As much as I loath him (Al #2), in his defense, he can't be held responsible for what his son does when he's not around his father. He has always been an "I'm better than you" spoiled brat.

No, the war is going bad, the economy is going bad, and Bush's only domestic policy since a tax cut in 2001 for the mega wealthy, that being immigration is going nowhere so the republicans focus is on a former vice president's son's mistakes.
Liberals don't focus on the sitting president's daughters being aloholics because we care more about Bush's policies than his family life.
Of course by the Al Gore is a bad parent standard, I guess we could all conclude that Dick Chenney is a gay rights advocate because of his daughers choices.

If he is then GWB is twice as bad, after all he's raised 2 party animals.
Seriously - there's a limit to how much you can teach your kids. If speeding and drug possession is the worst they got on this guy, then he's (a) not so bad for a spoiled rich kid and (b) better than a lot of them.
You have to wonder what it's like to grow up being compared to a famous father. Anyone who's had the teachers at school say things like "why can't you be as good/smart as your older brother/sister?" can get a sense of what it's like. Look at JFK jr. Imagine the pressure - his dad was an icon of our era, an he himself couldn't even pass the bar exam without several tries, let alone fly an airplane properly.
You almost have to feel sorry for these guys if they weren't so rich.

I agree with some of Gore's views, but I definitely agree that people are taking this too far.
Gore's son is an adult, therefore he makes & has to clean up his own messes. Quit blaming the father for the son's actions, there is no correlation.
My dad stopped answering for my actions on July 8th, 1998; when I turned 18.

I don't like Gore... but I would never accuse him of being a bad father. I don't know or want to know his personal life. As a parent we raise our children the best we can and hope they make the right decisions. We cannot control our kids' decisions. Everyone, despite their upbringing, make their own choices and if they are wrong then hopefully they will learn from them. That is called "Life".

No its not fair, we weren't in the Gore household and have no idea on this issue. Many good parents have kids that turn out just the same. I hate to say this but I feel sorry for Gore. But I'm still glad he lost the election.

No it's not fair. I completely disagree with just about everything Al Gore preaches and I don't like his politics, but he's not responsible for his son's criminal activities.
See this is what happens when you let a "village' raise a child instead of responisble parents.

No, I believe it's not fair. Al Gore shouldn't be held responsible for his son's actions nor should he be labeled as a bad father. It's only the Al Gore haters that are accusing him of being a bad father.

Good Lord - how sad!
Is anyone else tired of the complaining and name calling?
I agree with you totally - many kids who've had nothing put sunshine and lollipops sometimes wind up doing drugs. Especially since they are the ones who have money to get it.
Just like the deal with the Bush twins - they are kids. I don't know about you but I don't think I could handle every move I made scrutinized!

No, of course not. I wouldn't even say that GHW Bush is a "bad father", and several of his sons were "trouble".
Neil was involved in the savings and loan scandal as AN ADULT, and it was revealed that he had contracted STDs from prostitutes during his divorce.
Another son, it appears, had an alcohol dependency and halfway admitted to cocaine use. Bad father? Normal American father?
