My highschool Biology teacher once told me that it wasn't "Canadian Goose" but "Canada Goose", which led me to ask if this water fowl was actually from Canada? Could you refer me to the source of your answer(s)? Thank you. -M

Yes, Canada goose (Branta canadensis) is indeed from Canada. The traditional nesting areas are in the tundra of Canada, therefore the scientific name.

You should have wittingly snapped back you prefer to refer to them as "Branta canadensis". So given that they have a history of nesting in Canada, and therefore are born here, that sounds like from Canada to me. They are starting to adapt and just live in cities for the winter. But that is just as much Canadian Cities as it is American. It is usually Cities with green space, and Canadian cities usually have that.

No, the geese generally hold US passports. They just go up to Canada for the summer to enjoy the cooler weather and get cheap drugs. :)
