Although there are always fringe elements of any group, typical comic book readers are no different than any other group of people.

As a life long comic book reader I have found that most of my fellow comic book readers have above average intelligence, and tend to be more well read than average folks.

As I said above, there are those few extremists who let comic books be the center of their life. Those guys may well be a little off center , but why not let them be happy. Why is it that a comic book reader is automatically considered a "wierdo" or even worse Illiterate. Yet a guy who puts all his passion into a sports team, or a rock band is considered perfectly normal.

My advise to you would to be to quit concerning yourself with what you consider to be abnormal behavior in others and focus on what fulfills you and makes you happy.

Zorak says, "Well, I have been waiting for this question to pop up. Comic books appeal to a large cross section of people all races and ages. Many are aimed directly at adults. Read "Y, the Last Man" for one example. Many of the books under the Vertigo line from DC are aimed at adults/mature readers. I am not sure if you are just trying to stir people up, but, I can understand a little of what you are saying. There are some adults who act creepy in comic book shops, etc., but please understand there are creeps wherever you go. Interesting question.

No...I'm 21 and read Manga (japanese comics) on a regular basis.

I'll read just about anything from history to fiction....why are you trying to label people as "wierdos" anyway? Have nothing else better to do?

Most read comics because they get in touch with the kid side of them. They feel like a child again when they read. At least that's why I think my dad and Uncle still reads comics.

then what would you call the writers and inkers of the books. if you like them as a child you may like it as an adult. just because you grow up doesn't;t mean you leave everything from your childhood.
