I have made sure that I wiped thouroughly and have even started washing afterwards just to be sure I am "clean". My God, what causes it to itch so much? I am clean and the only thing that happens back there is a normal #2. I am way too embarrassed to go see a doctor about this. I am a 47 year old male, and no, I am not gay. If my mom or wife were alive I would ask them. PLEASE HELP ME!

For a guy that climbed a flsgpole while naked(as a teen) you would think I could talk to the Doc about this. I will try thr Prep H I guess and take it from there. Thank you all for the answers and sorry if I offend you everywhere else around here. I'm just an antagonist.

You are a 47 year old male and would prefer to ask your mommy (were she alive) about your itchy anus, but you won't go to a doctor?

Good lord, grow up.

Go to a doctor. A proctologist does nothing all day but look at people's rectums and listens to their descriptions of what's bothering them in that area. You just ain't gonna shock him.

The itch may be caused by hemorrhoids. I don't think anyone gets through life without acquiring at least one and by 47 I'd be very surprised if you didn't have one. Follow the advice already given and try Preparation H or Tucks pads. Try both if you like. If this works, then you know the cause.

And just because someone tells you that you "probably have a yeast infection" doesn't make it so. Besides, you can't get an online diagnosis anyway. Think horses, not zebras. Hemorrhoids are the most likely and most common cause of anal itching. So rule it out.

Just because you have anal itching DOES NOT MEAN you have hemmeroids. Hemmeroids usually present with pain, you'd know if you had hemmeroids. There is a cortizone cream over the counter in the pharmacy which helps anal itching. Never be embarassed to see a doctor they see everything. Your health is more important than embarrasment. Also remember not to be embararrased about check-ups or other scheduled medical tests. Some foods can cause this.

Well.. no easy answer for this. Something you may want to consider, at age 50, you should have a colonoscopy anyway. it's part of life. Everyone should be doing this. 47 is only a few years away. Maybe you should go get one and just speak with the doctor. Because they do this, they're used to it. They get all sorts of questions and provide all sorts of info to all sorts of people. I doubt they'll think twice about it. It's better to get this done now and find out things are ok, then to suffer through it. I think it'll just make your quality of life suck. At least consider it. You can kill 2 birds with one stone, so to speak.

if your diet consists of mainly acid based foods (and you dont eat much veggies) you can defenately be just having itching because of your diet.
there is a condition called candida. and what that's when we eat unhealthy our body collects all this waste in our intestines. it sits there and rots and rots and rots. it turns into bacteria and yeast. then you remove the waste from your body by going to the washroom, and the yeast will cause you to itch down there.
try a candida kit - or try eating lots of veggies and drinking plenty of water for a while. look candida up on the web. this is a common condition.
you can also add garlic and onions to your diet and try an antifungal natural herbal agent
you could have a yeast infection - this happens to men too. call your doctor - they are there to hear you - if you dont feel comfrontable then get yourself another or go to a walk in clinic. just remember doctors dont know everything.
learn about candida - you may have that - its too bad more people dont know about this condition living inside our intestines.
p.s yeast feed on sugar - it is their food

You probably have hemorrhoids. Try some Preparation H. And get over being embarrassed to see a doctor- you're 47 for god's sake. They've seen everything!

It could be a lot of things.....dry skin, eczema, a rash.....I would try some kind of anti itch cream. But I would reccommend seeing a doctor, or at least call and get the opinion of one. Even calling a pharmacist will be able to help you, they can reccomend a variety of items and assist in helping you!!

Not to scare you but sometimes we eat things that are infested with parasite like bad meats, and these parasites live in your intestines which can cause anal itching. Try a bowel cleanser or go to the doctor and have them test your bowel. It may even be a strain of bacteria but you need to go have it checked because you don't want to risk any long-term damages to your intestines or colon

try an antiseptic cream and quitely ask your pharmacist for advice too
asking a doctor about this is nothing they have heard worst and are unshockable
why carry on this way when you could get rid of it with some antibiotical cream from your doc

If a non-alcoholic lotion or cream doesn't help, you may have become infected with pin worms, curable with the proper medication. Why would you be embarrassed to see your doctor about it? That's what he makes the big bucks for. He'll stop your suffering in no time--and advise you on how to make sure you aren't re-infecting yourself.
