I was driving down a high way about 55 mph and my low tire pressure light came on! I really need to run some errands, should I absouletly not drive it? and does that also mean that I have a flat tire?

If you don't know what your tire pressures are then you shouldn't drive it. The TPMS system won't kick a warning until the tire is already 20% under-inflated so there is no "margin for error". Invest in a tire guage and check to make sure the pressures are set to Scion's recommended pressure - which you will find inside the drivers side door frame.

If you've got a low one, get it fixed.

you can drive on it, it just means that it is low on air, aka not at its ideal tire pressure. It does not necessarily mean you have a flat. If you live in a cold weather climate, the cold air will compress the air, thus reducing your tire pressure. If you fill your tire up and it goes low again, then that is a good indication that you have a flat. Take to some place like Discount Tire or something and ask them to check it out. If it is a flat, its a fairly inexpensive fix, usually about 10 - 15 bucks.

It pays to carry a $3.00 stick tire gage in your glove compartment. If your tire has more than 24. lbs drive and get some air in it and have it checked out at your earliest possible convenience.
Many new cars are being equipped with the tire pressure reminders today. To combat air leaking around the beads and mysterious air loss have your tires purged and filled with nitrogen. It's an inert gas. NO dirt water or contamination. Your tires live 15 - 20% longer and nitrogen molicules are hundreds of times larger than compressed air thus it will not leak off as fast. It's hospital clean so that your inner wheel rims do not corrode rust or change color.Tires with nitrogen run cooler and do not build pressure as much as do tires with compressed air.
All progressive tire shops offer Nitrogen today and in my book it's worth $5.00 per tire to have it done. Automatically have it done when instralling new tires.

There's always a margin for error.
Since you've stopped long enough to post this question, you'll have no problem putting more air in the tires and getting it checked out. If a tire is left too low for too long, it can come apart. Not a good thing on the freeway.
