actually.. they are both depending on which one you talk to.

I for one am a little of both.. but more of a realist... but many liberals come from a science background.. as such they are more of a realist..

Also many liberals come from a background that is about feeling and a for the people mentality.. those are more of a dreamer.

You really can't classify the whole party to one way or the other...

The Liberal ideology is a theory which holds forth beliefs that have no basis in reality.
They are Advocates of a policy that empowers a strong government to enslave its people with a high tax burden incident to the support of extravagant and unnecessary social programs destructive to both the work ethic among the lower class, and the incentive to innovate and succeed among the working class.
The problems we face today are because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living.
A democracy will continue to exist up until
the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous
gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority
always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from
the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally
collapse over loose fiscal policy

It depends on what you think of as liberals.

Some people like to call anybody who says something they don't agree with liberal. By this definition, you can't say anything about them, since it doesn't represent any real political ideology.

If you think of liberals as the far left, then labeling them as dreamers is probably accurate.

If you think of liberals in the classic sense, which is a moderate political ideology, then they would be realists.

We are and we aren't. Sometimes it takes a dream, or wild idea to make real difference. Not always, but sometimes, so I keep an open mind.
I am very realistic, and all I want is a change from this god damn destructive status quo on BOTH sides that is strangling the life out of my country.

"Business a usual" ain't cutting it, it's not 1960 anymore. Time for some new blood & new approaches.

Here's why I'm a liberal:
-more inclusive of all races, colors, creeds, and people's different love lives.
-more peaceful in the world. more open to talking and international pressure rather than rushing into war
-aware of the reality that a booming economy is not limited to Wall Street; there's also the perspective of everyday people who work hard, need public schools, need Social Security and don't have the priviledge of watching their stocks go up as a US company lays off US employees, profits increase and the economy appears to be booming! (for the investors)
-more interested in science and educated guesses, intelligence, and separation of church and state.

Why people are more con/Rep:
-They don't want the government doling out welfare to those who don't deserve it. (neither do I, but most on welfare are children, so I hope they get their money.)
-They think Republicans keep our country safe by going on the offense, and I don't mean Afghanistan, I mean Iraq..
-They think Republicans cut taxes and spending. They cut taxes for the wealthiest for sure, so why would some rich like Ben Affleck, Brat Pitt, Barbra and Oprah be democrat and vote against their own $ interests?
But as far as cutting govt. spending, look at our debt now.
-They are Chreestians or Chroostians and believe all these small, pseudo issues are important. They're influenced by their preachers and confuse GOD with GOP.
-They hate somebody they believe below them, is it blacks? hispanics? illegal aliens? all foreigners? the French? Homos? Turrrsts? Scientists? Lib'ruls? Jews? Atheists?
It has to be somebody.

Liberals are dreamers because they fight most often for political change that depends on the "better" nature of man in order to work effectively. They are realistic in attempting to address problems that conservatives tend to ignore. Unfortunately their answers usually rely on mankind not being murderous, self interested, bastards who are out to gain power, money and influence.

The main difference between a Liberal and conservative is their world view. The Liberal lives life with the theory that we are all in this together and that we are all family and the conservative believes that it is every man for himself and you should take care of yourself and your family. Also the Liberal will fallow representatives of the people`s will and conservatives will fallow father figures that know best and that the human is ultimately bad and needs restraining and the liberal believes that people just get desperate when lacking opportunity. Liberal also and conservatives give differently. The liberal will give with little thought in a unorganized way and conservatives will give for acknowledgment that they gave.

Liberals are labeled dreamers because they have an outlook to the future. Conservatives call it a vision( a hallucination).
Liberals want a country where opportunity is not monopolized by those that already have more than their share. Conservatives say, 'I got mine, You get your own" and they profess to live by the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Think of your Christopher Columbuses and Martin Luther Kings. The people who dare to dream of a different way of life against the masses. Those who despise government oppression and have to suffer indignities and oppostion to enlighten others. Those are the true liberals.
