USA: They have dominated Mexico recently. Don't forget the 2002 World Cup ;-). Sure Mexico is playing well in Copa America. Although I didnt agree with the decision, America was playing shorthanded in Venezuela and probably would have defeated both Paraguay and Colombia with their regulars.

Now, there is no giant, that expression was used in the past when there were no other countries with professional leagues and that was why Mexico crushed, but i think that since 1990 countries like USA, Honduras and Costa Rica have developed competitive leagues, thus players, and i think that any of those 4 teams have a chance to win each others, i think USA and Mexico are only a step or 2 above and the order and discipline of the USA has given them the edge lately.
But all in all there is no giant in the concacaf anymore

My first response would be Mexico. But then again Mexico (for years now) has been at a level that is beyond Concacaf. I have felf for sometime now that Mexico is wasting time & at the same time stiffling other Concacaf teams. They should be competing in South America, where they would be getting serious competition for a spot in the top 2 or top 3.

So If it were up to me, I would move Mexico to South America (Australia moved to ASIA) and USA & Co. can fight fot concacaf supremecy, while Mexico will be looking to oust Brazil & Argentina in the South.

What do you think ?

Mexico is and always will. Other than the 2002 world cup the U.S has done absolutely nothing in international play. When the tournaments count, the U.S is always dead last (Copa America, 2006 World Cup, Confederations Cup...I can go on and on). Winning friendlies on U.S soil is not worthy of any respect or the qualification of a giant for that matter. You have to prove it on the international stage and Mexico has done this time and time again with consisitent performances in the World Cup, two finalist appearances in Copa America along with a third place finish, Confederations Cup Champions, U-17 World Cup Champions, and not to mention the accomplishments of the mexican club teams in the copa libertadores and copa sudamericana. The bottom line is a GIANT can compete on the world stage, which Mexico is once again currently doing at Copa America, while the U.S once again came in dead last and went home embarassed.

The U.S. of course they just won the Gold Cup. Furthermore, they have dominated Mexico over the last ten years. Moreover, while Mexican soccer remains moribund, the U.S. team has been making enormous strides in the quality of its play. Just compare the 1990 U.S. national team to the current one. If this trend continues, the Mexican team will become little more than a nuisance to the mighty U.S. team! You may flame me now :-)
