The United States never minted pure silver quarters (ONLY 90% silver):

REASON: Pure silver is much too soft to use for circulation coins.

Until 1965 the US Quarter was made of 90% Silver alloyed with 10% Copper. This coin weighed 6.25 grams
This gave them a different look and sound from today’s Nickel covered copper coins. They weigh 5.75 grams each.
