Tell him/her that if they are not awake by a certain hour then you will start drawing on their faces with a Sharpie just like they do at their friends' house parties.

Well, I'm a teenager (so obviously I am not a parent), but my parents are very strict about me getting up on time. They say that they will come in and wake me up once, and if I don't get up, then I miss the bus, too bad so sad. I think that rule is very fair because it teaches me more about responsibility.

But, it's summer now, so I don't have to get up early. But when school comes around again, that same rule will apply. Parents shouldn't have to come in constantly to wake up their teens.

UGGGHHH! I am 15 and I am the worst morning person in the history of teens! First Daddy goes into my room and says "Angela, get up the he pull the covers off of me. The I get mad and get the covers back, then Daddy says Angela get up or else I will open the curtains (I HATE LIGHT IN THE MORNING) then I say go ahead and pull the covers over my face then he opens the curtains and pulls the covers off of me (again) then I get mad and start whining about how the light is hurting my eyes. Then he says I will close them when you get outta bed. So I aggressively get outta bed and stomp outta my room to take a shower. I have a dirty look on my face the whole time lol. When my Mom wakes me up she just keeps on yelling Angela get up! That does it for me, I get up in a flash because I dont want her to come into my room or else she will get mad about the mess lol

I don't...for the 13th b-day, I included an alarm clock that fit the personality, with a funny note/poem about "rising & shining" on their own, & Mom or Dad getting to give them yet another gift of opportunity to be for themselves.

You will undoubtedly be hit with them running late because they did not take this seriously...and depending on the circumstances, and my personal plans (which are important to respect), I drove them to school, or I did not...they served the consequences either way...if I had to drive, they had to take one of my other chores to replace the time I lost, if they did not go to school at all, there were always projects on the homefront available to be done, and if they were late, they served the detention...they're smart & get the drift pretty quick.

This lesson requires no anger...and no pre-lectures...let it go with the flow, with you understanding that your time is valuable, and that respect for that is part of learning co-existence skills...a tool they will use forever.

My parents don't wake me up anymore. I don't remember the last time they woke me up....

If you really need to wake your teenager up just rock them gently, say their name. Guess that would wake me up.

I don't think a parents should need to wake their teenagers up... they should buy them an alarm clock. or even tell them to use their mobile phone's alarm. it's the teenagers responsibility to wake themselves up.

Unless you're just waking them up to prevent them from sleeping in too late lol.. then you put the alarm in the room for them :P

my mom doesn't wake me up. I get up around like noon or 1 p.m. during school days she just yells at me to get up that never works so puts my ipod raido by my ear and turns it all the way up and plays really loud rock music. Sometimes my mom sings ( ahh the worst touture) I HATE MORNINGS. They'll walk in flicker the likes my mom says "dev wake up" me "GO AWAY!!!" the she starts to sing a song that has really high notes she sings toxic alot.

Lets see my parents have done so many thing to wake me up in the morning. They have poured ice cold water on me (in which i only had boxers on... very cold!), they have poured hot sauce in my mouth, they have sat on me, jumped on me, sent my brothers in my room to shake the hell out of me, they have hit me with little books, big books, notebooks, TV remotes. They have come in my room crashing symbols and playing trumpets. I mean there is an endless list of the ways my parents have woke me up. And the thing is they use a different tactic every time.

Just go in and scream at them! Im one of those people who naturally wakes up early, but if I have a friend over like for a slumber party, who sleeps too late, thats what I do.

Well I am a very light sleeper,
and the latest I get up is 9:00.
But if my mom wants to wake me up she lays down beside me,
and I jump out of bed, becuase I think that it is some thief of something. :)
