The load is off balance. Move the clothes around on the inside and shut the lid and it should start back up again. Happens when there is too much weight on one side and not enough on the other.

Usually this is due to the load being imbalanced or way too big. Shift the clothes around some and if this doesn't work take some out, put them in the sink and wash those separately once the original load is done. If that isn't the case call a repairman and I hope it's still under warranty cause Sears's charges an arm and a leg to repair their stuff, so it's probably cheaper to look elsewhere for a repairman.Good luck.

The washer was going through it's spin cycle. Most likely the clothes were all on one side so the load was unbalanced. Redistribute the clothes around in the tub and restart the washer.

Mike T is right sounds like your washer is out of balance. You have to rearrange the clothes so weight is disturbuted evenly around the tub. You must be washing heavy clothes like blue jeans.

Unless your washer is of the heavy industrial type it will automatically shut off when the load is too out of balance to protect the washer from damage.

4 well meaning answers, but none have a nice blue hat.
If its a top loader, it is probably the clothes not distributed properly, but if its a front loader, then the shocks are shot and need to be replaced.
