I know kids tease one another over funny sounding names etc.

If you have anything unique about your name...have you learned to live with it? Or changed it? Or do you just ignore people who make fun of it.

I personally changed my first name...actually my grandma did, I was named after her...so I never really got teased as she gave me an abbreviated version of her name, nice and normal sounding in this "foreign" country, claiming one of her was enough....LOL

Well I never changed it in school but I shortened my name this was my first name, but don't try saying my last name because that I could not change and that's a different story.
Anyhow my name now is popular and not awkward as it once was due to the fact that society has changed. I'm not teased about it any more and there are a lot of people with my name now
Funny how things change, just like everyone knows and loves mortadella, but that's again another story unto itself!

My name has always gotten attention, some positive and some negative. Since I've lived in different cultures, I learned early on that what sounds strange to one person can be normal to another. I was more irked by xenophobia than by the teasing about my name. I mainly was astonished that kids were so proud of their lack of creativity when it came to being snotty. Every time they jeered over the course of years, the joke got staler and staler, yet they seemed to think their words have power.
