I think the first foods are started around 9 months and the 2nd at 12 months and the 3rd at at around 15 months . Juice is always last because of babys systems. good luck and congrats on your baby .

It all depends on your child and your peditrician. Most start stage one between 3 to 6 months. Start with single veggie's or fruits. But before that make sure you give the baby cereal. After you have been through all the single fruits and veggie's you are able to narrow done which if any the baby is allergic to. Stage 2 starts between 6 to 8 months. There you can start some of the foods that have a combination of more than one food. Stage 2 is the same is 1 but a little thicker and getting your child use to more flavors. You will still give single stage 1 a few times a week. Stage 3 while begin between 8 and 12 months. That has a lot more texure. Once your baby is able to eat that without any problems then you can try a few snacks. The best ones to try first are gerber wagon wheel and puffs. They dissolve well in your baby's mouth. After that you can try the bitter biscuits and toast. They are harder. The rest I wouldn't give until after 12 to 18 months. I hope this is some help. I got a lot of my info from gerber and beech nut as well as my pedritican.

Generally, you don't start solids (1st) until the baby is at least 5 or 6 months old. You advance the textures of the foods (2nd and 3rd) as the baby shows you they're ready - sometimes it's by gobbling down the 1st stage, sometimes it's by refusing the first stage. You'll learn it as you go along. The snacks, you can start giving when the baby can pick them up on their own and put them in their mouths themselves - usually 9mos to a year old.
Juice is NOT necessary for a child under a year old. If you want to give it every now and then as a treat, that's fine, anytime after 9 mos old.

To a degree this depends on the preference of the baby and parent.

Watch out for those Gerber snacks and juice. A lot of that stuff is just overpriced, smaller servings of what can be found elsewhere in the grocery store.

Gerber 1st - is usually around the 6month mark - its basically minced fruits & veggies.

Gerber 2nd is after your child has grown a few more teeth as the foods are still minced but not as fine

Finger Foods are around the 18mo mark when your child is able to grab things (Cheerios is a good start around one year) -- The cookies are always a good healthy choice from Gerber... and the puffs are awesome cause they melt in the baby's mouth and provide fruit / veggie nutrients.

Some parents give their children juice as early as 7 months, but when I introduced Apple juice to my child, I had it watered down with bottled water.

Gerber 1st- 4-6 months
Gerber 2nd- 7-8 months
Gerber 3rd- 9-12 months
But pay attention to your baby they are all differnt she/he may be ready to start 2nd stage before others.

Why start Gerber at all? You can make your own food cheaper and it's better for the baby.

Just steam the same veggies or hard fruits you make for the rest of your family and mash them up. Mash up bananas, peaches, or mangoes, etc. Babies like it better because it tastes better.

It does not go by age....it goes by developmental milestones.

Cereals= Doubles birth weight and weighs at least 13 pounds, seems hungary after 8-10 breastfeeds or 32 oz formula, lifts and supports head.

1st Foods= pushes self up with straight elbows, sits with help and has control of head movements.

Juice= has tried vairety of first foods and is trying to drink from a cup

2nd Foods= sits independently, rolls over from front to back, can hold small object in hand, has tried wide vairety of 1st Foods.

3rd Foods= leanrs to crawl or pull self up to stand, mashes foods with gums, begins to expand taste preference, holds cup while drinking.

Finger Foods= has upper and lower teeth, can stand alone and walk with help, can easily pick up ojects with fingers, drinks from a cup independently

Graduates= walks with assistance, feeds self easily with fingers.

My son is 4 months old and we have been doing 1st foods since he was 3 1/2 months...we have almost done all the 1st foods and will start second ones probably around 5 months.
