Put his toe under warm water.

Here is a quote from http://www.guinealynx.info/nails.html that might help, though it is about nail trimming:

"In the event you do trim the nail too short and cut through the bloodline, take a deep breath. You haven't mortally wounded your little friend! It's always a good idea to have a "styptic pencil" handy (available in the men's shaving area of your local drug store) or aluminum sulfate power (also from the drug store). Touch the end of the bleeding nail with the pencil or the powder and the bleeding will stop immediately (yes there is a little discomfort to your piggie so be strong). "

You probably don't *need* a vet, though it'd be a good idea. Try to get it to stop bleeding by using a cotton ball or Q-Tip on the nail (or toe where the nail was in this case). There are also styptic powders you can use. Generally they're in the shaving aisle of the drug store or you can also find them in first aid kits. Sprinkle a little on his nail and it'll stop the bleeding.

The nail should grow back eventually. Be sure you keep the toe as clean as you can so that it doesn't become infected. If, after a few days, it seems painful for him to walk on that foot you might want to have a vet look at it to make sure there's no infection. Other than that there's probably not much you can do.

Good luck!

If you can't afford to take care of an animal, you shouldn't have it at all. Bring it to the vet and ask that it be put up for adoption to someone that can afford it.

Pfff thats nothing, I came home from school one day to find my hamster passed out hanging upside down with a paper clip through her leg that held up her water bottle. She must have climbed up somehow and fell or something. I just layed her down and pulled paper clip out of her leg. Her leg fell off but thats it. Grow up and stop crying

if you are only a kid, then ask your parents to take your pet to the vet...that is serious bleeding and that can hurt him really bad!

just apply gentle pressure for a few minutes, the bleeding will stop and it will likely heal up fine.

You have a pet, you have responsibilities. Find a way to pay the vet, dope.
