When did you decide you hated gays and what (or who) was the main factor in making that decision?

I don't hate them. Some of them are some of the most interesting, nice people I have ever met, in fact.

I was raised Christian and told that humans were all God's children, yet I was told that homosexuality was a sin. I don't believe the latter for a minute- I believe that people should live by whatever makes them happy. I believe that gays and lesbians should be able to marry, so they can have their loved ones make the big decisions, if they ever need to be made (i.e. regarding pulling the plug if the loved one is in a vegetative state).

I've turned my back on Christianity in my adult life, as it's too full of paradoxes to make any sense. I live by morals and I respect all people, regardless of their religion, or their sexual preference. I judge people based on how they treat me, not on things they do in their own lifestyles.

I think a lot of Christians who call themselves "true" Christians really need to step back and look at their own lives- at what they hate about themselves- before putting hateful judgments on others.

Never and interesting that you should see fit to ask the question in the L,B,G and T section, however I am not gay myself but life is too short to hate anyone, especially if the hate is based on something as natural as a persons sexuality.

When I was a kid, I was raised in a Christian family and I never hated gays, I just was brought up to think that it was a sin. Once I got to be an adult and have a mind of my own, I have lots of gay friends and I have no hate for anyone because of their race, gender or sexual preference. Some of my closest friends are gay and they are not judgemental of me so why should I be judgemental of them?

I don't hate gays, but... most of the people who answer this question (or who dislike gays and don't answer) ... for the most part, they've always hated gays. Much of our intolerance, we learn it at a young age. We learn it from parents and teachers. I believe it would be hard to pinpoint an exact time, and exact experience, where someone all of a sudden decided 'I hate gay people'.

Interesting question.

"Hate"? That's an awful strong word. Are you using it just to fan the flames of hatred yourself?

I don't think many harbor hate towards gays. Some do, yes. However don't get confused with rejecting your lifestyle choice with hatred. One can decide that choosing to be gay isn't the best way to lead ones life and be vocal about it without having any hate in their hearts.

Having your feelings hurt isn't hate.

Well troymariner I'm not gay and I don't hate gays either. What I don't like is when any person disrespect me. I believe that i have to respect in order to demand respect. I really don't care about your life style. As long as you are happy I'm happy for you. Just don't try to disrespect me and you be safe. EFIL

Fortunately I don't hate gays. I've known quite a few, and most of them were really nice people.

I'm not a big fan of public displays of affection or overt sexuality from gays or straights. A lot of 'gay pride' parades that involve blatant sexual images probably do more damage to the gay movement than the misguided and ignorant hate mongers.

Instead of being seen as people who simply prefer the company of people of the same gender, it becomes easier to paint them as a bunch of perverted miscreants who have an agenda to corrupt the youth of america and whatnot.

Gays should have pride, but they shouldn't allow their legitimate quest for equal rights under the law to be undermined by those kinds of displays of sexuality.

Who said I hated gays?

I just hate how I'm apparently incapable of saying how I think homosexuality doesn't make any sort of biological sense without being accused of being a hateful, ignorant bigot. Nothing wrong with THAT, is there?

(If you're looking for more tolerance on straights' parts, accusing them of things they aren't doing isn't working.)

this is the difference between us -gays- and you -straights- .
we don't hate you while some of you hate us.
some of you have black hearts while we do have white ones.
