Think of it this way; you have been dead since the dawn of time. It was only very recently that you stopped being dead the moment you were born.
So when you die, it will probably be like it was before you were born. It's the only way I can describe non-existence. There's no sadness, loneliness, just nothingness.
That just makes our fleeting time as living beings all the more precious, and worth making the most out of it.

I used to think not, but now I'm not so sure. It's hard in a negative wold to have such a positive thought. Since this world we've made by our beliefs is backwards, I suspect the truth must be the other way. A computer couldn't imagine such a thing very well. What we imagine we seem to achieve. Now when we could put that into a math formula we will know. It could be that we have a sense of eternity at death, our life and thoughts passing before our eyes, and live in the thoughts we have now. That would qualify as eternal life. So think lots of good thoughts. Then at the end of eternity, maybe we'll come back and can live the ones we didn't get around to
I've seen my life pass by in my mind in a second and felt that I could have contemplated any aspect, in no time, if I had wished. That way we are not conscious after death and yet don't know it so it doesn't matter that much. They say the brain manufactured time and that our consciousness has no speed limit. Time seems to have answered the difficulty of unifying Quantum Physics with Classical Physics with the Moving Dimensions Theory. We're finding out a lot about consciousness now also.

Consciousness does live on. The material plane we are experiencing is only one of many. The physical shell, body is only a temporary "vessel" where the consciousness temporarily resides. The astral plane is the next higher one and is by far less dense. The astral body has the same form as the physical one.
We can compare the different "shells" to that of an onion. In conscious life these are all in coincidence. The more are pealed off, the more luminous they appear the closer one comes to the core. They also lose more and more of their identity, form with the previous ones.
When it comes to astral traveling - the astral body detaches itself from the physical.... that is, it goes out of coincidence and is not bound by physical laws of our three dimensional world of time and space. It still retains the whole personality (Ego) of the individual and its shape/form as seen in the physical..... but in a by far less dense fluidum.
The more the personality/ego is purified, purged of its temporal emotional attachments, the more its appearance changes..... has less of a resemblance to the original (physical) form. It is the "baggage" of the Ego which dims and clouds the light of the core. The less "baggage" the brighter the radiance of the soul.
This is a fairly intricate esoteric subject . I will leave it at that for now.

The physical body is a frame or an apparel. It is destructible.
But the soul contained in it is indestructible. It re- enters into another frame depending upon the karma of the past life. You may or may not believe in this concept.

Yes, I personally believe that life can not be destroyed...... after physical death of the body, the life must be changing form and not meeting any end....... if even matter and energy are indestructible, how can life be ever destroyed?
