Go Ask Alice is really good, but keep in mind that it's been edited by an editor who doesn't have that great of a rep.
Crank by Ellen Hopkins and Impulse by her also. If like those, read Burned by her also, really good.
Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer. Just give them a chance, the best teen romance ever.
Ready any book that Sarah Dessen has written. They're all wonderful, especially Just Listen and The Truth about Forever
Perfect by Natsha Friend. Eating disorders.
Forever by Judy Blume. First love and everything that comes with that.
The Burn Journals is really good non-fiction book about a boy that lights himself on fire to try to kill himself. Amazingly, it's funny. It's by Brent Runyon.

The books I read in my teenage years are still my favorites! The best is Island of the Blue Dolphins. Try The only Alien on the Planet (not about aliens), anything by Madeline L'Engle, Skyborn, The Diadem series...

Sloppy Firsts and Second Helpings are two fabulous books by Megan McCafferty--every teenage girl should read them. The Last Life by Claire Messud is also very good. Anything by Ann Rinaldi if you enjoy historical fiction, Francine Rivers is AMAZING if you like long intense reads--the Mark of the Lion trilogy is by far the best set of books I have ever read.
happy reading :)

My sister when she was a teen liked Judy Blume's books.
It would be more helpful in figuring out what she likes if you had listed some of her interests, or what she is like as a person, or any clues she has already given you.
Or are you the teen girl? Where do you want to go in your literary adventure? Go wander the stacks in the library or book shop. Read titles, pull out interesting book covers. Read book reviews, such as The New York Times Book Review, and reviews in teen magazines.
