1. Classes: You'll meet a lot of people in your classes. Some of them will probably have your same major, and you'll be seeing a lot of each other. I've made a study group of about five guys, and we get together and do homework, etc. (and quite often, being chemical engineers...) :( haha

2. Clubs: Your school will have a lot of clubs. Choose one and attend a few meetings to see what it's all about. Many schools have intramural sports as well, if you don't want to participate at the varsity level.

3. Dorm: You can meet all kinds of people in your dorm. Leave your door open... Take a walk once in a while and stop in other people's rooms to see what's up.

Send me an email if you have any questions or want to know more. I'm more than willing to help :)

I know how you feel. The best thing for you to do is to try and get over your shyness. Approach some one you want to befriend before class starts and introduce yourself. It will feel like a really hard thing to do, but more than likely the person will give you a smile back and their name. Then you should say to him (or her) that you don't really know anyone, and ask if you can sit by them (or get lunch, etc!).

I know how difficult this is. I am an extremely shy person, and when I attended Girls State (if you don't know what that is, long story short - its a week long "camp" where a girl from every city of the state goes to learn about the government), it was hard not knowing anybody. But after introducing myself to a couple of the girls staying on my floor in the dorms, I now have friends that will last me a life time.

Good Luck!

I know when I went to college I was told to just leave your dorm room door wide open when you're in there. I did this and people just started walking in and talking with me. I am still friends with all the people that came in my room the first day I was at school. Trust me IT WORKS !!!
