Because some women want to feel needed- that they can be "the one" that convinces a bad boy to turn his life around, and get him to commit. That they see in him what others don't, that they can accomplish what other women could not!
Don't forget that the rebel, the outlaw, the tough guy with a heart of gold is a beloved fantasy character type throughout history - almost every woman would pick Robin Hood over King Arthur.
From James Dean, Steve McQueen & Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry to Mel Gibson as Riggs, Tony Soprano and Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow- bad boys. The reality may not be so nice, but it's an enduring fantasy..

The media is driven by profit rather than morals.
Shock & fear keep many people glued to the media and this is what brings in profit. I think we saw the media retract the "For Profit" with that dude who shot all those people in Virginia ... and they actually saw that they (the media) was fueling the fire by releasing the video tape; resulting in copy-cat's around the nation. I was glad to see them switch focus to the survivors and the families of those surviving rather than the dead dude who caused the mania.
Anyway's, it appears this is a brief lesson that was not embrassed by the media for the long run. They still seem to glorify murder, rape, and bad-boys/girls to increase profits and keep our attention. I am noticing a trend that "We're not buying it anymore!!!" (we, the consumers & public)

From what iv noticed around me, most women and men friends want a good man or women. What you are pointing out is the behavior of teens and early 20s, its called immaturity.

maybe we like the idea of being bad and really do not want the consequences that go with it so we let someone else play out the risk and take the penalty instead of us .

I'm not sure, but I think it's meant to prove how tough we must be. The 'bad' person behaves like they've nothing to lose, so their company could be dangerous?

what exactly is a bad girl? Is she a girl who has sex on the first date, or is she someone who uses sex for material gain?
Or is she just a naughty girl that deserves a good spanking - 'cause I could get into that.

Becuase they're just cooler, they always will be and they always have been. It doesn't come without it's risk, they'll probably die sooner.
