i dont think you're mam got them when she was nine usually you get them age 11 up so thats doesnt seem right
but some people can get them really late it all depends on thev person you usually get them around the same time as your mother although its not a rule lol
don't worry if you start your period you know cos they'll be a lot of blood if your worried talk to your mam cos shes been there
oh and dont be embarrased its ok its a sign of you growing up and every gal gets em

I agree, don't be in such a rush to grow up It happens much too fast anyway. I know that it seems like "forever" when you are younger. However, you will see that time just flies by much too fast when you are older and become an adult.
I started mine when I was 12. Each person is a unique individual. Nine years old is a very young age to start your period, however, it is not unheard of. When your Mom started her period is usually used as an indicator of when you MAY start yours, however, we are all very different. I do not believe that I started mine at the same age as my Mom, so this is not at all unusual. Be patient and give yourself time, and nature will inevitably take its course.
Often when we are experiencing stress or pressure about something this can also affect our periods. I hope you do talk with your Mom about this. Many times it is these types of conversations that are the most special between a Mother and Daughter.
Also, it is good advice to start wearing a panty liner and to have a thicker pad that you keep in your purse so that you will not be taken too off-guard when it does come. It does sound like you are very close to starting, due to the brown spotting that is occurring. It may also be a very good idea to speak with your Mom about making an appointment with a Gynecologist in order to discuss the matter. Then you can know for sure whether there are any problems, and confirm that everything is ok and normal. This will help you to begin to feel more comfortable about it.

It will happen when it happens. I've known 9 year olds to get it. For some reason these girls were very highly developed at 9 and 10.
If you have real concerns, have mom make an appointment with a doctor.

Don't be stressing yourself out over them. When your body is ready you will get them. The age your Mam was will make no difference, as our bodies are all different and the changes we experience will come all together for some and spread out for others. Enjoy what little time you have left without them now. As once you start getting them, you will have them once a month for the next 50 years, and will wonder what you were in such a rush for.

Every girl is diffrent in when they get theirs. I got mine when I was in 5th grade and I'm 13 too. Some of my other friends got it in grade 7 and some still havent got it yet. everyone ages differently and gets it at diffrent times. Dont rush it. Trust me it is not a joy to have, especial when your on vacation in Cuba where your on the beach all day and you go swimming for most of the day! (happened to me. had to wear tampons and i HATED IT!) dont worry, it will come soon enough.

you'll get it eventually. I never got mine due to my hydrocephalus and that messed up my pituitary gland & everything and now I'm on birth control to actually give me my period. it's weird but I would say that if you are age 16 and still don't hvae a period then go to the gynecologist and they will help you out. But don't sweat it. My best friend got hers when she was 14 so no big deal.

actually...you normally get your period 18 months after the onsite of breast growth.
ignore the people who say you can't get your period at 9..You can. You can also not get it until your 15 or 16.
You just have to be patient. You should like your close to it.

I started early but most of my friends started when they were 14. Usually it's hereditary as to the starting and ending time, so maybe you're following the timing of your grandmother. There's no need to be in a hurry.
