I was born and raised in Southern California, and was raised up with soda. However, since moving to the Pacific Northwest, I now refer to it as pop. I found that when I said soda, people looked at me funny.

Soda, I live in Florida.
But I do say pop when my mom's friends from Ohio come down I think it is because they say it all the time.

Neither. I'm in MS, and if I want a Coke, I say that, if I want a Sprite, I say that, etc. So does everyone else I know here in the South. Sometimes people misunderstand when we order a Coke in a restaurant that serves Pepsi products, but that's just habit because most places down here do carry Coca-Cola brand products instead of Pepsi.

Soda. I'm from Ohio but most people here say pop. I'm just weird.

Neither.

I'm from Kentucky and say "coke" to describe everything from Coca-Cola to Diet Coke to Pepsi to RC to Gingerale to orange or grape "cokes" (lol)...I think you catch my drift.

What's funny about Kentucky is this: US 127 is about the dividing line between cultural western and eastern Kentucky. I live right on US 127, where the majority of people say "pop," as well as everywhere to my east. Now, I'm originally from deep western Kentucky, where everybody says "coke," and my parents still call it that, so that's what I was raised with.

If you come to western Kentucky, western/southern Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, and (oddly enough) the Indy metro area in Indiana, you better call it "coke." You might get shot...

I grew up in OH and we said pop. Then I moved to SC and they say soda. I had to change because people didn't know what I was talking about.
