I say they are equally as powerful. Just different ends of the spectrum.
Allthough both can make you do really stupid things.

love is not an emotion,or at least not in its strongest form.let us consider all the different forms of love.
physical attraction "i love your body":no one had to teach you who to like.it is in actuality an emotion, and like all emotions it is uncontrollable.
family/mother/father love "i love you dad/mom" "i love you son
{[or]name of daughter}:you natural like your parents or siblings [maybe not later on] so it too is an emotion.
friendship "i love ya buddy":while friendship is the least instinctive ,it is still an emotion.you can pick your friends but you cant pick who complement your personality type.
marital love"i love you honey":the core of this is just a mix between deep friendship and physical attraction .that is not all that is needed but it is the emotional base.
then their is the vague "luv" love.i do not know any details but i am sure it is based in emotion.
so we have covered all the ideas that one thinks of when you here love.now it is time for clarification.thees emotions are wonderful and i am not belittling them, but because they lack choice, they are only emotions.but they are special[not "luv" or physical attraction] for with them usually comes something ells, something we will talk about later.
now, consider.what destroys thees loves.lieing,cheating,steeling,arguing.it is not thees specifically that destroy.it is what comes with them.hate.hate is the strongest emotion.it is the most basic instinct....
BUT,love in its purest form is not an emotion.consider, all the loves i have shown you[not luv or physical]are more resilient to hate that others.we only call only thees emotions love.it is not the emotions them self that have thees qualities.no emotion is better that the other.the emotions we call bad are just perverted forms of the "good" emotions.any emotion can be turned bad.so their must be a non emotion that naturally develops in thees other ones.it is agape love,as the Greeks called it.it is "CHOOSING to work to push someone towards the highest good."the mother helping the child who has done terrible things.the friend or sibling stopping someone from doing drugs the husband protecting his wife.the parents punishing a child.the good Samaritan helping the Jew.selfless love.has this not shown you that hate can not even touch agape.it may be able to destroy the base emotions, but not self sufficient agape that is not based in emotion, like that of the good Samaritan.that is the love that conquers all and never, ever fails.
so what are we to make of this.in a world where it seems that hatred ,greed, and evil all ways win,it is good to know that love is still stronger.their is an old song by the Beatles, titled "all you need is love".now i am no hippie, new ager, idiot,or someone who leaves the thinking to others, and i am pretty sure i have at least enough bran power reason thees things out.with that out of the way ,i believe no truer words were spoken that "all you need is love"

I would say hatred is a more powerful emotion. I think love is thrown around so much you never know if someone really means it. HATRED is something more then being hated its a feeling beneath its self.

They are pretty much equal to one another. How powerful it is depends on the person. Someone that once loved but now hates may find love more powerful because they knew of it, but got hurt, and only wish to be healed. However, someone who finds love weak and horrid, will find hatred more powerful because it can bend and break people to their will.

Hatred...I know what love is, I am in love, but I know that hating someone is so much more passionate and involved than loving someone. Love just comes naturally- to me anyway- but hatred takes work.

Hatred is the more dynamic of the two. We tend to freeze when love is threatened.

Hatred tends to do more killing than love, so it might be considered the stronger of the two.
The only killing love ever gets to do involves lovelorn unrequited lovers offing themselves after having asked strangers on QA why they shouldn't do it.

Love is more powerful coz it conquers everything,it's eternal &covers multitude of sins.Love endures forever,it is patient, kind, does not envy or boast, not self seeking¬ easily angered,it keeps no record of wrongs.Love always protects&trusts, always hope&perseveres,it never fails.
