No the food you eat and drink flavors that amniotic fluid and that is what she is tasting. Your baby drinks and breathes the fluids. The also pee it out. Your body replaces the fluid every so often!!!Don't worry it is all natural and nothing with the way the baby does it will hurt you or that baby!!!

I have also heard that babies can smell what you're cooking. The only way I can figure that is that the smells get into the blood and although the mother's blood isn't mixed with the babies, the smells still pass through the placenta and go into the babies blood stream. Babies don't get oxygen by air when they're in the womb, it's delivered by blood, so there must be some tastes and smells that are in the blood. Also, babies urinate in the amniotic fluid and swallow the amniotic fluid. Although urine is sterile anyway, I don't think there are any waste products in it while they are in the womb, it's just a way for their body to prepare to digest. Their nutrients are coming in through their blood while in the womb. The umbilical cord carries the blood from the placenta to the babies blood stream. It is not attached to the baby's stomach.

Technically, it's only a zygote in the very early stages of development; then it becomes a fetus. In political discussions, "unborn baby" can be considered emotionally charges and therefore unacceptable for politically correct discourse, since the implication is that the fetus is a baby with all the associated rights. However, in normal discourse, "unborn baby" is perfectly clear and a reasonable term to use.

I think that is an old wives tale. I know lots of people who said that their kids really like to eat the things they ate a lot when they were pregnant, but neither one of my kids likes the stuff I craved when I was pregnant with them. I don't think it would be possible because the baby is not actually eating they are just getting the nutrients in their bloodstream through the placenta.

Not sure exactly how it works, but can't hurt to help you eat healthier stuff in hopes your child will like the healthy stuff when they come out!

I don't think that's true, I can barely eat because I don't feel like eating at all, all food I used to love now disgusts me, I can't eat any meat, no soups, no fruits and I have to force myself to eat other stuff. If this passes to my child, what would he eat???? My sister spend her pregnancies throwing up almost everyday and her children like eating pretty much everything...

LOL, I have no idea how it works, but I know that it's true because my mom ate ice cream everyday when she was pregnant with my little sister and now my sister can't stand ice cream!
