Contrary to the advice here. Many collarbone breaks never heal propoerly so these people are ill informed. The collarbone is easy to break. After breakage you may be left with a bump where the break is. Sometimes working out with muscles in that area can cause sufficient pain in some even after the healing process.

Well, I was just reading a book about a jockey who broke his collar bone ten times in falls. If you think that lifting a workout weight is more stressful that keeping a thousand pound horse going the right way at speed, then you might consider giving up workouts.

I broke my collar bone when I was a little kid. After it healed, I had no ill effects. It grew/ supports weight during workouts just fine.

as long as you don't try to hurry the healing process, yes, there is no reason why you cannot be just as active as you were before.
