If he/she is extra helpful and nice we leave a tip of 15% or so of the bill. But usually the wait staff in a buffet place doesn't do much or care much, so we don't bother.

it depends on how much you are paying for the buffet. if your paying like 25 dollars per person then you will pay about a 10 - 20 dollar tip. If you are paying less than 10 a person then a 5 dollar tip is good.

I generally leave 10% in this situation, or at least $2 per each person that brought me something or if I saw someone else bussing the table, $2 for them also.

No its not the same, you do however want to leave at least a dollar per person. After all they are picking up your mess and refilling your drink.

You don't need to tip as much since they're not doing as much. If all they do is clean up after me, i.e. bus the table, I'd only leave a dollar.
