No, not at all. Some schools do not even give athletic scholarships. Typically if you're good enough to earn a scholarship, you will be scouted by several schools while in high school, and you will be in close contact with the coaches the whole time. If you are relatively unknown, you should send a highlight video to the coach at a university you're interested in attending. If you do not have a highlight video, you should talk to your high school sports administrator, and you can probably request that he sends your "career" stats to the coach of a school you're interested in attending. You can also call or email the coach (look on the school's website for his phone number or email). You can most likely at least get a visit with the coach if you're a decent player. If the school is interested in pursuing you, they'll be in contact with you and your high school coach. If you walk on to a team while in college, you will not receive a scholarship for at least the first year. If you are good enough, you can transfer to a different school so you can get a scholarship or in some cases, the school you attend will offer you one to keep you there.

Because sports franchises are big moneymakers for universities. Never forget that all universities are businesses! They want money more than just about anything, and students come second. This might be a cold hearted way of saying it, but think about it- if the school has no money, the school can't pay it's professors and build any buildings. Then no one gets to learn. School makes money? School can teach students. Sports teams are a great way to make money for a college, and they take advantage of that. That is why the jocks with a 1.5 gpa get thousands of dollars from universities and you (the hard working student who got a 4.0) get nothing. It's a business.

No you do not. There are a limited amount of athletic scholarships that each college is allowed in each sport. Just because you may play doesn't mean you'll be awarded a scholarship of any kind.

That would be ridiculous because there are too many people playing sports to give everyone a scholarship, do you know hw much money that would be.
You have to at least be very good at whatever it is you do. It would be like smeone walking into a bank and be automatically given a loan because they can count.

Not true at all.
Sports scholarships are a dangling carrot. There are so few big ones and so few students get them. By comparison, it is much easier to do very well academically and get a full ride academic scholarship. It just takes discipline and study, and in my experience, very few athletes have the guts and discipline that it takes to study and do well academically.

Oh No. They are very difficult to get and the NCAAalows only so many per sport. Football and mens and womens basketball are the only sports that offer only full rides. other sports split theirs up because they are limited. Try a service like www.sportsworx.com. They help through the whole process.

Not in the way of true scholarships. But I bet a majority of sports find ways to get thier athletes money.
I know of division III schools that "don't give scholarships" but still find ways to get athletes (football specifically) extra money on thier student aid.

Nope, you've gotta be really good. And there are requirements for your grades too.
On the other hand, your tuition may be 10,000. dollars with a 500. dollar scholarship. Like that will do anything!
