Hello,

Here is my problem , I currently have a person website I have built with Frontpage 2003, I own a domain name that I bought and have it paid for until 2010. My webhosting service is through IPOWER , And I hate it ! It always has problems and my website never loads correctly on the ipower servers. I thought that maybe It was my website or computer that was the problem. So I got a bran new computer and got a New version of Frontpage and REMADE MY WEBSITE from scratch. And I noticed today that Im having the same problems with my website so it has to be the web hosting service. So now I want to switch to a new web hosting company. Can I do this and how ? I need to be able to take my domain name with me. What do I need to do to this ? The new comany I want to switch too is Omnis Web host. And one more thing is im mad casue I have pre-paid for 2 years hosting on Ipower and now have to switch for poor service. Do I lose my money then ? or can I ask for a refund ?

First, since you're prepaid on the domain till 2010 you can leave it there and just switch webhosts. You'll have to go into your domain control panel and point the DNS to the new hosting servers. I would switch to http://www.doggydomains.com They have good hosting at low cost and also 24/7 phone support. Once you get a hosting plan you can call the support and they'll tell you where to point the DNS for your domain.

Also, you should be able to get a refund since you paid up for two years. Most hosting companies will refun the unused portion.

Depends on the company's policies as to whether you'll get a refund...as to transferring, yes, do it!

From advice I've gotten, it's best to register your domain name with a company different from the company with which you're doing the hosting in case this happens again! Less hassle when you transfer...see the point? If you transfer, you don't have to move the name, just go to the registrar and change the dns pointer to the new host! That's what I've done. Registrar fee is cheap! Like as cheap as $6-$7 per year. Then, when you OWN a domain name like that you can buy into hosting for as cheap as free, in some cases (like Google, once you finagle your way through it...) or $12 a month (Yahoo!) or whatever godaddy costs (I don't know but I've heard it's good) or like that.

My hosting company is aso (A Small Orange http://www.asmallorange.com) $9 per month and I'm very happy with them - good uptime and excellent tech support and excellent control panel.

I suggest you switch to another host like bluehost, or godaddy.
