Best person for the job. Period.
Last year, I voted for a democrat for House of Representatives and a republican for Senate because they had the best values and experience, the best plans, and seemed to me to represent my interests and the interests of my family, our state and our nation the best.
It is not about party politics, it is about who is best for our nation.

I understand economics. I have a background in economics and finance. I try to find a candidate who also understands it, since my well being and that of everyone else is the most important issue to me and is a prerequisite for all the other issues - - - - if you're living hand to mouth your sexual rights are less meaningful, and if everyone is living hand to mouth you cannot fund a military, schools or a highway system.
Typically the result is that I vote for a Libertarian or a Republican. This time around clearly Romney has the best grasp of economic issues, not just because of his experience but because of his answers to the questions Barron's sent him.
But it's not based on party lines. I would likely take Bill Richardson over Ron Paul.

I vote for the best person who is more closely aligned with my beliefs. But I will say that I will not ever vote democrat, because that is a vote for their party which I am in almost total disagreement with. While there are a few good ones, the party message is not where I want this country to do.

I wonder how many of these people are telling the truth. I stopped voting several years ago; the votes are all controlled by the ones who own the ELECTRONIC voting machines, and answer to the Shrub gang. Voting is a complete waste of time and effort. The illusion is people actually think that voting makes a difference. LOL!

I vote based one the person who will do the best job, I amy not agree with all theis policies. The only disqualifier for a candidate is I will not vote for advocates of gun control.
I like to see decisiveness in action in my candidate (for president), lawmakers are supposed to dwell and think things over. Presidents are supposed to lead, they should make the best decision based on the information they have on hand and deal with the results later.

In the past I voted on the person and if their stance on the issues were in align with mine. This upcoming election, however, a lot of my views have changed to be in line with conservatism. I'm also strongly and vehemently opposed to socialism. Therefore, I'll be voting for whomever runs against Hillary or Obama.

I used to vote across party lines, but the recent developements in the Democratic party and them becoming beholden to the extreme left of their party has changed that . I can not force myself to vote for anyone associated with the George Soros, move on . org crowd anymore.

I must admit I go by party. I think about 50% of Dems are ineffective, but 99.5% of Republicans are really bad.
Olympia Snowe of Maine is a decent (R), but she could prove me wrong. I don't know her positions on everything.
Some R's in more liberal states are more liberal (at least socially) than D's in conservative states. I live in Florida, though, so no (R) could get my vote here.

Candidates' platforms and voting records are the basis by which I vote. Partisan politics is nothing more than a "divide and conquer" tactic.
