Only way is to "network" the printer. If the printer is bluetooth enabled you could create a network with bluetooth links. You could hard wire a network but then not much difference from what you have now. If one computer is always on you could make that one a master in a network and let other computers bluetooth or wifi to the master and print through the master.

Set it up for network printing.
Go to Start > Search and type in Network Printing. You should receive full instructions on how to do it. You may have to set the computers up in a network first, but you certainly won't have to continue with the unplugging the cable problem.
Hope this helps.

Buy a USB hub, buy two new printer cables and make sure both computers have one. Now plug both your computer's printer cable in the HUB's "input" port. Then plug your printer's cable in the "output" port of the HUB, and connect the HUB to one of the computers. voila.

Enable "printer sharing" on one of the machines.....your computers will have to be networked to use this option.

Or,
you can buy a USB printer switch.

You might have loaded too much paper in the printer so it can't feed.
