You should know that many people go to Hollywood every year with stars in their eyes and talent to back it up.
You should be very well prepared, because even the most talentd of actors don't have that 'it' factor or just don't have any luck. Always take classes & workshops. Keep your acting muscles on their toes!
If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.) These agents have all signed an agreement with SAG to follow certain regulations which in my opinion makes them more reputable than most others out there. I would start here nd if you don't find one to your liking, move on to Ross Reports. Or cross reference the lists.
Then send them your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.
Once you have an agent, they will get you the auditions, but until then you can check out actorsaccess.com. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, you can go to backstage.com or http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying.
My suggestions, always be prepared as you can be. Always be the nicest person you can be. You never know if the person you just flipped off for taking your parking space is the director of the commercial you're auditioning for...
Be nice and relaxed when you go in. Aside from looks & talent, they want a friendly person they can envision working with for the next few days, weeks, or months!
Good luck!

Hi,
Be prepared first and foremost as an actor. Train well at a good school and with a good teacher. Take time to build your base.
Don't limit your studies to Hollywood to the answers you find here even if there are some good ones. Study Hollywood. Study the industry. Know what you are getting yourself into.
Here is a resource for you that will help you to understand some of the things you'll need. It's called What It Takes To Become An Actor. It's a 28-page ebooklet I created and you can download it for free. Just sign in and it's yours. You can get it at the link below my signature.
Hope that helps!

1. Here is what you should know about Hollywood: It is a veritable black hole. Actors go in all the time, and most never come out a star. It is a very, very hard place to find a job. My writing prof in college used to joke that Hollywood has the most beautiful waiters and waitresses in the world, and he was right. It is expensive, and honestly your odds are not very good at allif you just want fame.
That said, LA is a pretty exciting place to live. I lived there for 4 years, and generally I liked it. I contented myself with community theatres and student films, which are both in abundance. I never tried to be big, and I saved myself a lot of heartache. A friend of mine just had her umpteenth audition this week - for a menstrual product. Believe it or not, if she gets the gig it would be her biggest role after 8 years of living and acting in LA.
2. You must be very prepared if you are thinking of living in LA. There are people who you would be up against that have literally acted, danced, and sang their entire lives -- and you must be competitive. If you walk in unprepared (or worse, undertrained) no one will give you a second look. Remember, actors are replacable, and feelings are never spared. Take every class you can, singing, acting, dancing, stage fighting, anything!
3. Here is the Screen Actor's Guild info on agents -- and remember, never, ever pay anything up front!
http://www.sag.org/sagWebApp/application?origin=page1.jsp&event=bea.portal.framework.internal.refresh&pageid=AgentInformation
4. This is what I suggest: Get as much training and experience you can right now. Every role (even if it is sword-carrier #2) is a stepping stone and can build your resume. If you do decide to go and pursue your dream in LA, save up as much money as you can and be smart about what you do. Remember, it takes hard work (and often years of work) to get anywhere in LA.
Oh, and contrary to what other people are saying, you can't just "break in" to Broadway. It also takes years of hard work.
Good luck!

I agree with Kandice, do Broadway shows first. You will get acting skills there, and if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.
Give your self a few years on a stage. It would probably be easier to get on a stage than on tv or movies. Either way, you need to be good or unique. If you look like everyone else, you won't stand out. Take up dance, singing, basically try to succeed in any talent you can.
Also, you need to be patient, there will be 100's if not 1000's of people who are auditioning for a part you are going for. Don't always go for the lead, if you get a part, at least that is something, and if you are realy good, the director might move you to lead, or suggest you audition for a lead.
Keep in mind, the celebs you see represent about 5% of all the actors out there, so your chances of being big is slim.
Good Luck!

She is much too "blah" for this film! You're so correct! She will have to were gambling the undead...probably a zombie alternatively of a vampire! I can not feel that they went along with her within the casting. Of path, she will be able to in most cases beat my @$$, so I'd higher be careful, however nonetheless. I was once very dissatisfied within the option to solid her for Bella.

I've seen your other questions. You like everyone else is worried about how to get an agent and such before they have learned the craft. It takes years of training before you should even consider looking for work. If you try to do anything professionally before you are ready you will fail. Believe me, the competition has trained. If you haven't you will lose out.
You will learn the business slowly as you are exposed to it more while you are training.

I don't know you but I suggest New York instead of Hollywood.
Try the stage instead of the movies.
