I had a yard sale this last saturday. My neighbor which I don't really know all that well (but she seems nice) came over and bought alot of clothing and stuff for her grandkids. Later in the day she came back over and said when my yard sale was over she would like to buy what was left if I could make her a good deal on all of it. I said I would. Her jeep broke down on her in that time and she never said anymore about it. She lives right across the street. I had the yard sale to make some extra money to buy new school clothes for my child. Should I ask her if she still wants to BUY the clothes or just give them to her for free. They are just taking up space in my garage but I could use the money too. There are over 130 pcs of clothing left.

It would be a nice gesture to give them to her for free, but I understand you could use the money. I would just ask her if she was still interested in buying the clothes and if she says no then you could offer them to her for free. Unless you wanted to sell them on E-Bay or at a consignment shop. You could always give them to the Salvation Army.

First of all -- did you try Family Services (they always could use some donations) or the Consignment Shop on Post?

IF you take them there (Post Consignment Shop) with tags on them ... they will try to sell the items over the next 30 days for you for a very slight fee (or none -- depending on the post).

IF you take them to Family Services and make an outright donation -- then you and your spouse can get a receipt for the donation -- and it is a deduction from your taxes (so definitely keep that receipt) .. plus .. you have the satisfaction of knowing that Family Services screens those other Military Families who definitely need some aid at this time (due to losses from their household goods shipments, thefts, natural disasters, etc)!

Are you going to have another sale ? When I have my yard sale whats left I dont want to drag back in so I usually donate the left over stuff. If your not having another sale I would probably give her the clothes.

I would casually bring it up to her and ask her if she is still interested in buying your clothes. If your neighbor is no longer interested there are a lot of thrift stores that will pay you for your donations.......there problem solved.
