I honesty don't get why people hate Rey. I have been watching him since his debut in WCW in 1996. I still remember seeing his classic match with Dean Malenko in his first match for WCW at the great American Bash. Rey revolutionized The curisewieght division in the 90's and what can be done in a wrestling ring in general. But recently people have had backlash against and why i ask? And most people say he got the belt because of Eddie. Well didn't anyone notice before eddie died wwe was pushing him. Seriously why is there so much hatered for a great wrestler?

Finally i can rant, been waiting for days... *clears throat*
I liked Rey Mysterio in WCW, thats it! Nothing else. Ever since he came to the WWE he has only succeeded for 2 reasons. 1. Death of friend, 2. Merchandise sales (ie stupid mask, t-shirts etc). Rey Mysterio is nothing but a mask and 'cute' little high flying moves which in my opinion is not real wrestling - Malenko revolutionised the cruiserweight division showing smaller guys could still be technically sound as the heavyweights.
His moves are complete bullsh!t, never during any other matches do people 'somehow' land on the 2nd rope. How does it hurt the 619 and West Coast Pop are basically spinning dropkick with a hurricanrana (even Ashley can do one!).
Also Michael Cole has said and i quote 'During Smackdowns time as part of the WWE broadcast 3 wrestlers have been key to its success.
1. The Rock - Its his show, he incorporates it in his catchphrases and has been the front of SD since the begining.
2. The Undertaker - (not sure what he says, kind of tuned out as i hate Cole) and
3. Rey Mysterio - Rey has been Smackdowns guiding light over the past few years, with his unique high flying skills and his mysterious character, Rey certainly has been a key element of Smackdown.
Youve got to be kidding me Mysterio a 'key element of SD'. 3 other wrestlers come to mind - Lesnar, Angle, JBL, i suppose the Big Show and even Funaki are better.
Yes it is true the WWE were pushing him before Eddie died, but not for WM MainEvent status, maybe a US title or the occassional SD mainevent but after Eddies death it was n inflated push and showed that the WWE exploited a tragedy in an attempt to sell a storyline.
So there you go, plus i dont like 'The Underdog' tag around him, its sickening and is a terrible stereotype for smaller wrestlers.

I don't hate him, I too have ssen him since WCW and even unmasked at IWA and everything. He is trully a great athlete and a great wrestler.
Thats why I hate his character right now. Whenever he wrestles, people call him "Eddie" and I am a huge Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio fan, but Rey Mysterio IS NOT Eddie Guerrero!! I think Eddie deserves to rest in piece and Rey deserves a personality of his own. Because I got fed up with his character, Rey Mysterio sucks in WWE because he can do so, SO MUCH more!!!
I hope he has a new gimmik now on his return, something that shows us Reys true potential for once.

I could not agree more. Remember that match he had with Eddie at Halloween Havoc (i think it was 96 or 97, not sure)?
He was getting a push before Eddie passed, but I think a lot of people thought he got one when he was too small to be a legitimate world heavyweight champion.
It's a shame that the legacy of the cruiserweight title that Rey, Eddie, Dean and Chris Benoit worked so hard to build has gone to crap.

My guess is because he won World Heavyweight Gold because Eddie Died and the story lines in 06' ruined Eddie's legacy. I always liked Rey from his matches with Ultimo Dragon to the Filthy Animals he is one of the best Cruiserweights in the World.

People condemn wrestlers for so many reasons. However, it wasn't based on the life outside, but the way he performed in the ring. Just like you said, after the death of Eddie Guerrero. As for me, I do not believe that Rey would climb the top just because of one, dear, popular friend. I love him so much, as a fan, to ever judge him.

I hate him because of the whole Eddie storyline that happened pre, during and post title run. The things he said, I know they weren't his words, but he should have just had the sense to say "No, I'm not saying this. This is stupid and gay."
But what I REALLY hate him for is that stupid 619 move. What a buzzkiller it is when his opponent just happens to fall on the second rope... Like.. they try to make it seem natural and unexpected, like "Whoa! Now he can do the 619" but nobody ever just drapes down on the second rope like that in a non-Mysterio match.. its just stupid and annoying
and i know this is a pretty fragmented and unclear argument.. but i'm getting tired and can't really be ****** making myself clear... which makes me wonder why i even bothered answering the question.. well.. . uh...

Rey should be wrestling against other cruiserweights or go to TNA and compete for the X Division Title.

The 619 is amazing and did you ever think that anybody else cold do that. I dont know how anyone can hate Mysterio.

They hate him because he is a cruiserweight and he won the a World Championship. Also because he was too small. But I really don't give a damn! He's amazing in the ring and that's what I care about!
