I've granted a provisional admission to Umass-dartmouth to presue my gradute study in electrical engineering.

Due to the fact that I'm an international student I should take TOFEL and GRE tests. in the next few week I'm going to the US to attend a language center and then I can get good scores in both exams.

I've got a GPA of 4.53/5.00 and am finacially well-off, is the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth really good for me as a graduate engineering student or I can get a better chance after i take GRE and TOFEL test??

and what are my chances in being admitted in Stanford/ Columbia/MIT?

UMass Dartmouth is not a famous or cutting edge school. It is a respectable local branch of the state university of Massachusetts. You will get a decent education there. Most of your classmates will be B level students from the high schools in that part of Massachusetts.

Probably it is not a bad idea for you to start at UMass because you are going to have a lot of adjustments to make when you arrive in the USA. But if you are a very good student you might want to transfer to a higher level school after you have been in the US for a year or so.

There are many schools that are more prestigious, where if you get good grades in your courses at UMass you will be able to transfer. You might even consider transferring to a different branch of UMass. I think the UMass Lowell branch or UMass Amherst might be slightly higher rated for engineering.

UMass Dartmouth is not a bad school, but it is not prestigious. The elite schools that you mention are extremely difficult to enter. MIT for instance, is world famous and thousands of international students apply each year, but they only take about 100 students a year from the entire world outside the USA. Columbia and Stanford might be even harder to enter. On the other hand, there are dozens of respectable schools that are excellent, but less competitive. CHeck the US News rankings - any school in their top 100 would definitely be a highly respectable school.
